In 2003, Honda launched "Cog," an advertisement in the UK for their seventh-generation Accord cars. This television and cinema ad showcased a Rube Goldberg machine featuring a series of interconnected parts from a disassembled Accord.
The marketing campaign for "Cog," along with its companion pieces "Sense" and "Everyday," was developed by Wieden+Kennedy with a budget of £6 million and aired later that year. The production of "Cog," directed by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet and produced by Partizan Midi-Minuit, took seven months and involved post-production by The Mill.
The final 120-second version of "Cog" was broadcast on British television on April 6, 2003, during a commercial break in ITV's coverage of the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix.
