🚨NEW: AFFORDABLE electricity? NO, HERE is the Democrats’ plan: “Electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

🔥Share with Virginia voters who are angry about their skyrocketing utility bills.

Everywhere, stunned Virginians are rightfully complaining about their exorbitantly expensive, soaring electricity bills that CONTINUE to rise. Most do not know WHO caused this. Democrat Gov. Abigail Spanberger recently wrote on X: “Lowering energy costs for Virginia families is a top priority of mine.”

No, not really. Not when you prioritize illogical, discredited Climate Alarmist policies ahead of humane, pro-energy policies that deliver greater supply, reliable electricity, and a stable grid that promotes human prosperity and flourishing without threats of service disruptions or worse. Electricity is now essential for life. It is NOT a luxury. And electricity prices DO follow the law of supply and demand.

➡️Briefly explained, here are some of the UNNECESSARY cost drivers passed by Virginia’s Democrat legislative majority and signed into law by Democrat governors. In ALL cases, Republicans warned against them but were outnumbered.

☑️The Democrat-passed Virginia Clean Economy Act (2020) mandates that the major utilities retire their carbon-emitting facilities and phase out most fossil fuel (natural gas, coal, oil) and some biomass generation in Virginia. Ironically, fossil fuels and nuclear were the sources that were CAPABLE of supplying most of our electricity in the recent heat wave as the grid strained to keep up. Mothballing these facilities has already begun, further choking what COULD have been a more abundant supply.

☑️The utilities must meet ESCALATING Renewable Portfolio Standard targets for renewable energy. Dominion’s target is 100% carbon-free/renewable electricity by 2045, and Appalachian Power’s by 2050.

The Virginia Department of Energy describes the VCEA this way:
“Establishes a mandatory renewable portfolio standard (RPS) program.
o Dominion Energy to deliver electricity from 100% renewable sources by 2045
o Appalachian Power 100% renewable by 2050.”
It does NOT inform you of the higher costs that we will pay.

☑️The utilities are MANDATED to develop or procure large amounts of new clean resources, primarily solar, onshore wind, and offshore wind, and they have been steadily working on this. Dominion’s offshore wind project has ALREADY cost consumers nearly $10 BILLION, and its estimated total capital cost (excluding financing costs) stands at about $11.5 billion, exceeding initial projections. Some of the increases stem from a higher PJM (multistate grid) network upgrade and onshore interconnection costs. Wind is treated as a variable resource, NOT a firm baseload one.

➡️Paradoxically, configuring each of these "green" sources to generate electricity results in a significant LIFETIME carbon footprint of its own.

☑️Because solar and wind are not consistently reliable and their outputs fluctuate with weather, the utilities were also required to build large-scale energy storage by 2035–2036. This year, the General Assembly passed a law that substantially expands the energy storage requirements under the VCEA. Long-duration storage is especially difficult to achieve and is expensive. The massive battery storage, by some estimates, will cost up to $40 BILLION, which will be passed along to consumers.

☑️Add to this Virginia’s renewed membership in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a multistate cap-and-trade program with ESCALATING auction prices and STRICTER caps on total emissions each year. Simply stated, consumers will pay a carbon tax penalty on electricity that’s NOT generated by renewables.

Virginia ALREADY must purchase an enormous amount of its electricity from other states, including those that utilize coal and fossil fuels. The climate is not constrained by political borders, so this is also illogical: Fossil fuel generation by thee, but not by me? You can clearly see how Virginia is more "virtuous."

☑️In a 2008 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board (video below), Barack Obama explained that this policy drives up electricity prices as a deliberate feature. It would force the transition into renewables by making the costs of fossil fuels so high that they became unaffordable.

“When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.”

Obama also said that if someone wanted to build a new coal-fired power plant, “they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them” because of the costs from the cap-and-trade fees on emissions. Bankrupt them -- or bankrupt us?

☑️As an aside, this article is about electricity, but the Virginia Democrats’ 2020 law to require automatic state gas tax increases (indexed to inflation) EVERY year on July 1 has just resulted in a state gas tax of 32.6 cents PER GALLON. When the storage tank fee and wholesale tax are tacked on, the combined state-level total is roughly 42.4 cents PER GALLON!

☑️The Democrats also passed a 2021 law to mandate the sale of electric vehicles in Virginia to reach 100% zero-emission-vehicle sales for new passenger vehicles by 2035! However, Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares were able to exit this program apart from the legislature. It’s a good thing: Virginia does NOT have the expanded grid capacity that’s needed to charge all of these EVs, anyway.

☑️It is crucial to understand that the data centers did NOT CAUSE this problem; rather, they increased and accelerated demand. So, the Democrats who are responsible should NOT be allowed to use the centers to divert voter attention and manipulate the public into shifting the blame.

☑️Democrats have passed various programs that they proudly tout to mitigate costs, but the offered relief is restricted to specific populations.

➡️For MANY reasons, including the limitations of current technologies and the paucity of mined, processed rare earth elements, metals, and other materials needed for renewables, EVs, AND essential electronics, it is IMPOSSIBLE to do what the Democrats have mandated -- and on their unrealistic timeline.

If Virginia eliminates all fossil fuels as mandated, do Virginia Democrats plan to declare war against the monopoly-wielding Chinese if they -- as they've done in the recent past -- refuse to sell what is needed to provide “green” electricity for our survival? The Democrats' mandates are risky because there is NO guarantee that other nations will be able to catch up, given the world's finite supply.

At least Virginia has lots of combustible forests, so we could cook and get warm the way Virginians did in the 17th century. We could also hunt -- unless Democrats succeed in banning ALL of our firearms.

In the meantime, the Democrats’ policies arise from futile, wishful thinking, and Virginians will continue to pay ever-higher prices for these impossible mandates. But Democrats raised their own pay nearly 300%, so perhaps their plan all along has been to avoid the economic pain they’re causing.

🚨So, we’re stuck with skyrocketing utility bills until a critical mass of Virginians understand WHO did this and vote the lock-step Virginia Democrat legislative majority and their “futility bills” OUT of office NEXT year when the entire General Assembly is up for election. If you want the elimination of these mandates and relief from this unnecessary economic pain, the ONLY way is by spreading the truth far and wide.

Another historic American church has been conquered - and they made sure the whole town felt it.

The Ebenezer Baptist Church in Occoquan, Virginia - founded in the 1800s by a former slave with deep African-American roots - is now Masjid Al-Hussain.

Conquering the church wasn’t enough. They had to publicly declare victory.

The Islamic call to prayer (“Allahu Akbar”) was blasted from loudspeakers across the town for the first time, at the personal invitation of the mayor. Locals cheered it as a “cultural experience” and “blessing.”

Irony dies here: A church born from American slavery now serves a religion whose sacred texts explicitly regulate, endorse, and sanctify slavery - including sexual slavery - with no abolitionist movement in 1,400 years.
