@CarlingtonHill @Siglinde99 Sure @_MarkSutcliffe, dump it on charities. Like they don't have enough of their own work to do without adding work that the city should be doing. What a thoughtless and ill-informed suggestion, from a thoughtless and ill-informed mayor.
Please keep talking about Sudan, the whole world knows about what is going everywhere else but very few people know about what is happening in Sudan.
If you saw this tweet and you already know what is happening please help us spreading it around. And if you do not know, please refer to my “likes” and educate yourself, I have different threads explaining everything from the beginning.
Please help Sudan!

If you saw it, its your responsibility to spread it!
@RomanFisher__ @liz_hallett I appreciate this @liz_hallett. I'm not overly into Xmas at the best of times, but this year I feel utterly despondent because of what's happening in Gaza. Messages of "peace" today are hard to wrap my head around.
Radi Tamimi, Kinnan's uncle said it was hard to imagine the shooting was a random act.
His nephew grew up in the West Bank, and his family hoped he would live a safer life in the U.S.
“We feel somehow betrayed in that decision."

Excited to head back to breathtaking @banffcentre Feb 2024 for the @CAGP_ACPDP gift planning week-long course!
And, a new faculty member! @shegrosz of @AbundanceCan joins me after teaching Gift Planning Fundamentals for several years https://t.co/xkCo0VHIyj
gonna sell out 😉
@DerrickSimpson_ That is so exactly the crux of this issue and it's outcome...along with the results of the last election. As an amalgamated city those of us in the downtown core have no hope of the liveable city we'd like to see.
@liz_hallett So true! Philanthropy def needs to shift towards decolonization/social justice. For now, these AMT changes will impact charities without an alternate framework that has a more equitable distribution of wealth. Aside from being a pretty benign attempt at 'fairer taxation'
@liz_hallett Well that's a whole other thing, but much of this relates to gifts made as a result of a specific point in a donor's life where they may have in a position to donate at a very significant level. It doesn't mean that they aren't otherwise philanthropic.
@liz_hallett Also, the gov't has provided no data as to how much extra tax revenue they will acquire from the AMT changes specific to charitable giving, but it most certainly will be much less than the amount of money which would make its way to charities via donors.
@liz_hallett Your mother's advisor needs to learn more because unless she is among the ultra-high-net-worth she won't be impacted by AMT changes insofar as charitable giving. Most of the AMT changes sit well, it's those that incentive charitable giving that should be removed.
Opinion piece in today's Globe & Mail from @CAGP_ACPDP & @ImagineCanada on the AMT. I'm digging the title, because it's so true - the fallout's on charities. Appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with @macdjb on this!
