This is a FANTASTIC book. Having worked in Silicon Valley for 30 years, and now working in politics, I know that every word she wrote is true. I had to stop to breathe after learning about Colin Stretch's infuriating direct lies to Congress (which I remember watching and did not believe a word he was saying then), but when I finish later tonight, I will let my small corner of the world know how much everyone needs to read this book.
Please congratulate -- and thank -- your sister for me. From the observations/frustrations over the blatant misogyny to the outrageously unethical and absurdly inhumane things that billionaires believe are appropriate to put in writing, this book describes my entire career in Silicon Valley (which has been, to be clear, my entire career).
Not to mention the breastfeeding memories. That would have been hard for me too, had I not started a network for working attorney mothers in 2002, so I knew beforehand how to manually express and always bring a hand pump. This is wisdom that women give to each other, so if you don't have access to an email list like I did (far more secure and personal than a Facebook group, even though they were not around then), and if all the women you work with are younger/unmarried/without kids/quit upon pregnancy, then a pregnant employee--especially one who recently moved to the area, much less, to the country--would generally lack access to this knowledge. I am sorry about that. Much gratitude to Sarah for pulling through and staying with this wholly unethical company to bring to light many of the egregious things that people with undeserved wealth and power do to maintain their undeserved wealth and power.
