This #WorldPoetryDay we remember two titans of Northern Irish Poetry & great patrons of the Lyric, Michael Longley & Seamus Heaney. Both were valued audience members & champions of the Lyric, so we encourage you to read and re-read their extraordinary works Today in celebration!
On a visit to @balmoralshow @PCIModerator praised farmers & farming families for the work that they do in providing food for our tables, their contribution to the local economy, while managing the countryside, all of which is often taken for granted Story: https://t.co/zISE2G9oez
Over fifty years ago, Heaney looked down from the bridge over the Moyola river and wrote a poem that celebrates the month of May.
'MAY'
'When I looked down from the bridge
Trout were flipping the sky
Into smithereens, the stones
Of the wall warmed me.'
From: 'Wintering Out'
At PMQ’s in @HouseofCommons @DerekThomasUK asked @RishiSunak to make #BrainTumours a ‘critical priority’. The PM responded he would make sure Derek gets a meeting with the relevant minister, so ‘funding gets out the people who need it’ ➡️ https://t.co/z6xQQTw8r8 #APPGBT
Privileged to have worked with Joan professionally on many occasions, but most of all, to call her a dear friend. Sincere condolences to Joanna, Harriet and Marcus and her wider family circle.
I was delighted to attend 'The Sound of Music'. There was sensitive characterisation and angelic singing from a highly talented cast of pupils, made possible by superb teamwork from staff. There's something for everyone in a school production! Congratulations Dunclug College!
A few pictures from the last night of our school show "The Sound of Music". Fantastic performances from the cast supported by a brilliant bunch of musicians! #thesoundofmusic
Sincere condolences to his wife Ann and the whole family. Rab lived his retirement life to the full in Australia but never lost the interest in, and passion for, school life and his former pupils - whom he loved to refer to as 'the weans'. He was a joy to know.
We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of former Principal, Mr Rab Sloan. He was Principal at Dunclug College from Sept 1987 until his retirement in Aug 2005. He is fondly remembered by past & present colleagues & pupils. We extend our sympathies to his family circle.
It was a great pleasure to attend Prize Day and celebrate an excellent year in the college. Well done students, past and present, and congratulations to Principal, Deputies and staff.
Prize Day 2022 was a great celebration of pupil performance, parents, former pupils and friends coming together with current pupils staff. Rev Dr

So sorry Jane to hear this sad news. She sounds like a lovely person who made a difference in so many ways. Even with such special memories, you will just miss her.
My mum dedicated her entire life to teaching children. We are all heartbroken but so, so proud of her and all that she achieved during her fantastic career ❤️
