Nick Saban will go down as one of the best in college football, and in Alabama, in our culture, that means something. He and Terry are also tremendous Alabamians who have given so much to the Tuscaloosa community and our entire state. For you, Coach, I’ll say: Roll Tide!
Our 5th grade students culminated their poetry unit with a Poet’s Cafe. They did an excellent job writing their own poems and sharing their work. Snaps all around!
Thankful for a wonderful day of PD! We discussed our district wide focus on classroom management, EL instruction, and completed some #acstraditions. We are blessed with the best at AES!
I enjoyed chips and salsa with a few of my favorite 5th graders today! Thank you to Mrs. Forrest and Sierra’s for providing such an engaging math lesson. 🌮
This week I visited Mrs. Isom’s classroom while she was administering the LETRS phonics survey. Our 3rd grade teachers will use this information to design targeted Tier 2 instruction. I am so proud of our 3-5 ELA teams for their commitment to data informed instruction!
The ACS faculty and staff know how to WORK HARD and they also know how to PLAY HARD! We hope these photos give you a glimpse of the enthusiasm that we see on our campuses every day! #ACStradition
We are finishing strong at AES! This week students designed & launched parachutes, reviewed important math concepts, and discussed character traits. We also hosted our upcoming 3rd grade students. @ArabCitySchools

"One study estimated that a 5th grader who reads at the 90th percentile encounters about 2 million words/year... A reader at the 10th percentile encounters just 8,000 words. That’s the poor getting poorer." - Listen now on the Sold a Story podcast feed. https://t.co/lr7ZlSRW7g
What a day! AES instructional coaches led PD on the languages of appreciation at work and we enjoyed BBQ plates provided by Pleasant Valley Church. The day capped off with our faculty participating in over 20 service projects across the community! #acsserveday2023
It’s an incredibly difficult thing to admit that something you have implemented could be wrong, and the purpose of this thread is to try and summarise the best thinking on this issue and provide a supportive path forward for anyone wanting to transform their reading offer.
We are so proud of this 3rd grade student! Today he celebrated scoring 100 on his sight word assessment with Dr. Berry and Mrs. McCrary. Hard work pays off! @ArabCitySchools@AESKnights
5th grade students worked in groups to find the volume of boxes, make a design, & create an animal. I am impressed with their work! Thank you to our math coach & teachers for making this project so engaging for our students! @AESKnights@ArabCitySchools@AMSTI4all
