All of the shit about how “there’s no place for political violence in America” is a dodge. A way of condemning the assassination attempt in the broadest, most indirect way possible. And it’s not even true. America was born in political violence. There are times when political violence is justified. We wouldn’t exist as a nation without it (no nation would, in fact). What made the assassination attempt against Trump so evil is that it was NOT morally justified. Trump is not the wicked despotic tyrant they pretend he is. They don’t want to admit that, so instead they just condemn political violence as a category.
