Dear Prime Minister @narendramodi,

For nearly five years, Telangana has been shown impressive renders, glossy graphics, and grand promises of the Secunderabad Railway Station redevelopment.

Every few months, a new image appears.

A new animation.

A new promise.

A new celebration of "development."

But Hyderabad's citizens are asking a simple question:

How much money spent actually on development?

According to available figures, around ₹360 Crore has reportedly been spent against a sanctioned cost of ₹712 Crore.

Now consider this:

Telangana contributes approximately ₹364 Crore to the Union Government every single day.

In less than 24 hours, Telangana contributes more to the national exchequer than what has reportedly been spent on this project after years of announcements, publicity, and presentations.

That is not a criticism.

That is a reality check.

Since 2014, Telangana has contributed more than ₹758000 lakh crore to the Centre through various taxes.

Hyderabad powers India's IT exports.

Hyderabad drives pharmaceutical innovation.

Hyderabad attracts global investments.

Hyderabad generates jobs, wealth, and growth for the nation.

Yet when it comes to transformative infrastructure, Hyderabad continues to wait.

We are not asking for special treatment.

We are demanding equal treatment.

A city of over one crore people cannot be expected to survive on promises, presentations, and publicity campaigns.

It needs infrastructure.

It needs mobility.

It needs Metro expansion.

While other cities continue receiving approvals, launching new corridors, and expanding their networks, Hyderabad's Metro Phase-II remains trapped in an endless cycle of files, consultations, and delays.

The people of Telangana have spoken.

This is the time to demand what rightfully belongs to Hyderabad.

Hyderabad’s Major Infrastructure Projects Stuck in Central Clearances 🚧

1️⃣ Hakimpet Tunnel: Part of the SH-1 elevated corridor. Revised working permission from Defence is pending
2️⃣ Begumpet Airport Tunnel: Part of the Paradise–Dairy Farm Road elevated corridor on NH-44. Defence permission is available, but AAI’s MoU and construction sanction are pending
3️⃣ ₹17,212.69 Cr Sewerage Plan: Covers Hyderabad’s core areas, GHMC and ULBs within the ORR. DPR is under examination by the Union Urban Affairs Ministry
4️⃣ ₹4,000 Cr Musi Trunk Sewer: Proposed along the Musi under NRCP guidelines for pollution abatement. Approval remains pending
5️⃣ Godavari Phase-II: Drinking water project combined with Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar rejuvenation for Musi clean-up. Telangana has sought Central funding consideration
6️⃣ Musi Riverfront: Initially proposed with a $500M World Bank loan. After Central-level processing, the project was routed through ADB; DPR is under technical review
7️⃣ Uppal Flyover: Six-lane second-level flyover requires 8.04 acres of Survey of India land
8️⃣ Rasoolpura Flyover: Telangana has pursued 1.62 acres of Interstate Police Wireless land since 2017. The earlier proposal was withdrawn in 2023; a revised proposal is being prepared
9️⃣ AOC Alternative Roads: 42.202 acres of defence-affected land is required. Telangana has also sought revised working permission for 48.9917 acres following alignment changes
🔟 Indiramma–PMAY Urban: Telangana sought 2.7 lakh houses. Despite being listed as partially resolved, the official remarks say “No progress"

Two completely different ends of Hyderabad’s economy 🫰

Trump Towers: ₹2,000 crore private investment. Homes starting at around ₹5 crore.

Indiramma Towers: Homes costing around ₹11 lakh each. ₹5 lakh government subsidy, ₹6 lakh beneficiary contribution, plus government land.

One is private capital betting on Hyderabad’s growing wealth. The other is public money ensuring that growth still has room for lower-income families.

Indiramma Towers to Trump Towers. ₹6 lakh to ₹5 crore. The distance between those numbers is enormous.

The fact that Hyderabad has space for both is perhaps an even bigger story.

THE TIMELINE DOESN'T LIE.
NEITHER DOES THE DOUBLE
STANDARD.

HYDERABAD IS STILL STUCK AT THE SAME STEP IT WAS AT YEARS AGO.

December 2025: CM Chandrababu Naidu publicly stated that revised DPRs for Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada Metro 84.63 km, ₹21,616 crore had been submitted, and urged the Centre for faster approval.

August 2026: The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has cleared those DPRs and forwarded the package to the Union Ministry of Finance for financial appraisal the formal step before these projects reach the Union Cabinet for approval.

Eight months. Submission to Cabinet-bound. Moving.

Hyderabad Metro Phase-II has been in front of this very Government since 2024. We have pushed for it, year after year, through DPRs, revisions, Half a dozen representations to PM by CM,Chai samosa meetings, committees, consultants, and public campaigns for 588 days and counting.

And the reply we have received, in substance, has been:
Sort out your own liabilities.
*Die your own death.*

No Finance Ministry forwarding.
No clear next step toward Cabinet.
No timeline at all.

This is not envy toward Vizag or Vijayawada.
Every city deserves a Metro. This is a demand for the SAME urgency, the SAME pipeline speed, for a project that is already built, already proven, and already overdue.

This is not a story about Vizag or Vijayawada moving too fast. It is a story about Hyderabad a city with an ALREADY BUILT, ALREADY PROVEN, revenue-generating Metro carrying 4.5 lakh daily riders being made to wait longer than cities starting from zero.

Dear Prime Minister @narendramodi,

If eight months is enough time to move an 84.63 km, ₹21,616 crore new project from DPR to Cabinet-bound appraisal, what is Hyderabad's excuse for years of silence on a 122.90 km, ₹38595 crore EXPANSION of a system that already works?

RESOLVE THE IRFC ISSUE.
SEND IT TO THE FINANCE MINISTRY AND THE CABINET THE SAME WAY YOU JUST DID.

Dear Prime Minister

@kishanreddybjp RODE THE DELHI METRO TO THE AIRPORT TODAY AND CALLED IT "WORLD-CLASS." HE IS RIGHT. THAT IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM.

Today, our own MP from Secunderabad posted photos of himself gliding through Delhi's airport Metro, praising its efficiency, and calling on India to "embrace public transport for a cleaner, greener, sustainable future."

We agree completely.

So where is that same energy for the city that elected him?

Hyderabad remains the ONLY major airport city in India with NO direct Metro connectivity to its own International Airport. Not a delayed connection. Not a partial one. Zero.

Hyderabad Metro Phase-II has been waiting for Union approval for YEARS. The IRFC issue is unresolved. Hyderabad is now India's 4th most congested city. 4.5 lakh commuters are crushed daily into a Phase-I network that hasn't grown an inch.

And the MP whose job it is to fight for exactly this system for his own constituency chose today to advertise someone else's.

Sir, with respect — posing in Delhi's Metro is easy. Getting Phase-II cleared for Secunderabad, for Hyderabad, for the people who voted for you, is the actual work.

Your constituents are not stuck in "world-class" trains today. They are stuck in traffic, watching you enjoy a system they still don't have.

I am deeply anguished to know that the legendary colour of the Indian hockey team’s jersey has been changed to saffron. The iconic shade of blue of the Indian hockey team is not just a colour. It is an emotion associated with the nation’s sporting heritage.

For decades, this colour united us in hope, in victory, in defeat and in the pursuit of sporting excellence. We have cried, laughed, celebrated and stood proudly with our men and women in blue. Wearing the blue jersey our teams have won Olympic medals with the national anthem playing on the world stage. #Blue is derived from the blue chakra in our national flag. It is a symbol of our national pride and identity. The colour blue belongs to every Indian.

When the national hockey teams were struggling for sponsors, #Odisha created history by being the first and only state to support our national teams and our beloved game. Every Odia across the globe was proud of the state’s gift to national hockey. After 41 long years, our men’s team won an Olympic medal. Just because the government changed in Odisha, it should not change our national team colours. This is petty politics of the worst kind.

Our blue jersey is to us what the iconic stripes are to Argentina and the yellow jersey is to Brazil. It is etched in our collective memory. Any change in this colour, is a crass attempt to erase our priceless sporting legacy. National symbols are meant to unite us not divide.

I am given to understand that this step was taken under pressure from the BJP Government in Odisha. Those in authority may deny it, but the fact is that for the last two years, everybody in Odisha has seen the obsession of this government with changing colours of buildings, buses and even bridges. It is the only work that is happening in Odisha today. But now the same government has changed the colours of our national team. I strongly condemn this attempt by BJP Odisha to politicise a national game like hockey. It has deeply hurt the sentiments of lakhs of sports lovers across the country and the pride with which Odisha has supported the national hockey.

ಗುಜರಾತ್ ಗಲಭೆಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಲ್ಕಿಸ್ ಭಾನು ಎಂಬ ಮಹಿಳೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನ ಸಾಮೂಹಿಕ ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು 2022ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಜರಾತ್ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಸನ್ನಡತೆಯ ಆಧಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಗೊಳಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಪ್ರಹ್ಲಾದ ಜೋಷಿ ಅವರು ಸಮರ್ಥಿಸಿ ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರಿಗಳ ಪರವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ಇಂತಹವರು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಚಿವರಾದರೆ ದೇಶದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಗತಿ ಏನಾಗಬಹುದು ಎನ್ನುವುದು ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಈಗಿನ ಆತಂಕ.
