With support of SMAP, RAB started "RAB-SMAP" in following 10 Districts as a part of horticulture program activity. (Ngoma, Kayonza, Gatsibo, Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru, Ruhango, Gisagara, Nyabihu, Rutsiro and Karongi) RAB conducted sensitization W/S in those 10 Districts.

#RAB_SMAP Training of Trainers on Farmers Filed School 5 (FFS-5) to @RwandaAgriBoard staffs was done on 25th May. Partcipants could learn about harvesting and post harvest handling.

By applying the best practices for nurserybed making aquired from #RAB_SMAP trainings, target farmers in @BugeseraDistr have reduced the amount of seed used to get good seedlings. For that they reduced the cost of seeds. @RwandaAgriBoard

#RAB_SMAP target farmers in @NyagatareDistr changed sowing techniques thanks to RAB_SMAP cultivation trainigs. Farmers said the new techniques of spacing seeds help to raise good and healthy seedlings and save money from seed cost by using small amount. @RwandaAgriBoard

FFS-1 was held @BugeseraDistr by RAB-SMAP, @RwandaAgriBoard on 26th April. Tomato, egg plant, onions and cabbages were planted at nursery bed and water melon was sown with the pot made by banana leaf.

On 26th April, @RusiziDistrict, RAB-SMAP conducted cooperative management and gender training @RwandaAgriBoard. Cooperative members had a group discussion about the problems of cooperative management.

Mr. Ange Rovert who is in charge of RAB-SMAP activity @RwandaAgriBoard conducted FFS-1 in @BureraDistrict, 25th April. According to the result of market survey by farmers, cabbage, carrot, sweet pepper, french bean, amaranth, egg plant and onion were sown at demonstration farm.

Coop management and Gender training which is one of important component of SMAP activities is holding at Mpanga sector of @KireheDistrict now. It is already 3rd years for @KireheDistrict to implement SMAP activities by themselves!!!

On 11th April, horticulture training FFS-2 was conducted @Nyamasheke. District officers organized the training. Farmers enjoyed transplanting of cabbage and beet root etc. The seedlings was covered by a shade made of banana stem for avoiding direct sunlight for a few days.

RAB-SMAP @RwandaAgriBoard conducted #FFS-1 for coop farmers @NyagatareDistr today. RAB officers trained farmers how to prepare nursery bed and how to sow the vegetable seeds such as tomato, onion, cabbage, carrot, egg plant and dodo!!
