People of Burahya County in Kabarole District, Charles Mwanguhya Mpagi is a man with valuable experience in journalism, public communication and Tooro affairs. Yesterday’s coronation ceremony once again showed his ability to communicate at the highest level.
Come 2031, Burahya will have an important choice about the kind of experience and leadership it wants in Parliament. Don’t overlook people who can add value to your society.
That's a wrap on Beijing.
🇷🇼 RSSB Tigers finish 4th at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup after a 93-62 result against Boca Juniors.
A first for Rwanda, and a proud one at that. 🙏
Bank of Kigali, Rwanda’s largest commercial bank, just became the first Rwandan lender to join China’s Cross-border Interbank Payment System (CIPS). With the move, the bank can settle transactions directly in yuan, reducing reliance on the US dollar for trade with China. OVER 67 African banks spanning 38 countries have joined the CIPS network through varying levels of participation.
CIPS completes cross-border yuan settlements in 300 milliseconds to 10 seconds, vastly outperforming SWIFT's 1 to 5 business days. Furthermore, its direct real-time clearing bypasses intermediate dollar conversions, cutting transaction costs by 95% to 98%.
🚨 Thierry Henry on Arsenal’s 3–0 at Brighton:
🗣️ Henry: “This is Arsenal’s first 3–0 league defeat in three years, and it showed something people didn’t want to say.
When the game gets away from this team, they can look ordinary.
Ødegaard was poor. Loose with the ball. Couldn’t get them playing. Brighton punished every cheap pass.
Saka wasn’t in it. Havertz couldn’t touch the game. The big players went missing when the score asked a question.
And I look at Arteta. Why isn’t Lewis-Skelly starting a game that needed legs? Brighton ran through that midfield. Guimarães and Rice got outworked. That’s the story in the middle.
Raya had conceded one Premier League goal all season. Tonight that comfort got ripped up.
Three goals. No answer.
Title talk is easy when you’re winning ugly. Tonight they looked like a team that can be hunted.
Brighton didn’t just beat Arsenal. They made them look average.”
@Arsenalnewschan Last year is already in the past. Ground leveled. But there is something teribly wrong with this team. No desire for glory . Sense fatigue and content
This evening in Kigali, President Kagame and President Romuald Wadagni of Benin took a walk along the Nyarutarama Green Carpet, one of the city’s dedicated green corridors designed to provide residents with safe and accessible spaces for walking, running, and other outdoor sports activities.
President Kagame received President @WadagniRomuald of Benin and his delegation at the Urugwiro Village. The two Heads of State are now holding a tête-à-tête meeting marking the start of the two day Official Visit to Rwanda.
I’m intrigued by Andrew’s response. It has strong reference to custom.
That’s an area that requires real scholarship- otherwise how do we preserve these customs for easy future reference?
Are they codified? Are we referencing oral custom and precedent? Is it strict? Interpretative? Persuasive? Binding?
The need to invest in understanding who we are….
our ways can’t be over emphasised.
Today, a Rwandan trader in Mwiki was robbed of his bucket of mandazi, two thermos flasks of black coffee, and the money he had made selling to honest people.
The thieves were chang’aa addicts who thought they had found an easy target.
Unfortunately for them, they found the wrong neighbourhood.
I responded immediately from Maji Mazuri. One robber left the encounter with fewer teeth than he arrived with; another went home with a head injury. Meanwhile, we raised KSh 3,500 for our fellow African trader to help him get back on his feet.
Let me be very clear: we are not going to stand by while criminals prey on hardworking Africans trying to survive.
A man wakes up, makes mandazi and coffee, carries his little business on his back and comes to Kenya to earn an honest living. The least we can give him is security and dignity.
To the mugukaa, miraa, & chang’aa gang: mandazi is not your inheritance, coffee is not your birthright, and Mwiki is not a free-for-all buffet.
We are Africans before we are anything else.
We welcome our brothers and sisters from across this continent, and we will defend their right to work peacefully.
Kenya must never become another South Africa where fellow Africans are attacked simply because they crossed a border looking for a better life.
We can be tough on criminals without becoming cruel to foreigners.
Leave hardworking traders alone.
Let them hustle.
Let them eat.
Let them go home safely.
