@Tsar_Martyr Yes because the "theism" is the system of belief not the object and gods are systems. So you can believe in a god and still be considered "atheist" by those whose system you don't subscribe to. The Hindus will say Christians are "nastik" just as the Romans called them "atheoi".
@JohnofStafford@ChristiansSTDT "Christians say Christianity is the only true religion"...you are simply repeating the flaw of Pascal's Wager as the solution to the flaw
@psilynt@MartinTweats I'm not the one saying it. The way we talk about gods and understand the concept now is within a Christian narrative and that's why I keep saying its a very restricted cultural construct that everyone thinks is universal...its not
@psilynt@MartinTweats That's why when we define atheist today we say lack of belief in gods or God...the extra magic is added! I think the New Testament didn't use Yahweh because they were creating a new god and Yahweh was the Jewish god and that wouldn't hit with the gentiles.
@psilynt@MartinTweats Well the capitalisation is where the magic happens. "god" is a general term, so Zeus is a "god" so you had this mass amount of literature including Christian with "theios" and they knew this is a problem bc it puts their god amongst the many so the capitalisation changes that.
@MartinTweats If you go to the Arabs they to have the word for non believer, you go to the Hindus they too have the word for non believer. The only confusion here is every theist pretends like they too are not non believers in other gods
@MartinTweats Christians being smarty pants later capitalised the "god" to pretend like not believing in their god is a different atheism to them not believing in the Romans gods but its not. Theism simply means believer in a god and atheism is non believer in the god in question
@KawaiiKisses07@ErichSaylor Its baffling to me how they say that its the Jews that killed their Christ like they haven't read the story. The Jews were under Roman occupation and its the Romans who killed him by crucifixion. If the Jews had killed him he'd be stoned to death
@kangminlee I love how racists love to act like the whole idea of characters playing characters outside their race is this new thing just because its blacks.
As a black man I never saw black panther as a black man since its a fictional character. I wouldn't notice a Korean playing it
This is why I say religious people are not stupid, when it comes to scrutinising other religions they will ask questions they never ask of theirs. Christians say this all the times and its so obviously stupid. I person claiming there's 500 eye witnesses is only one source not 500
Korra silences Christians by challenging the claim of eyewitnesses to the crucifixion!
It’s misleading to say there were over 500 eyewitnesses when the ‘500 witnesses’ reference comes only from Paul, with no other historical source confirming it.
@David_Kicinski This is true, I don't think anyone should be trying to disprove a virgin had a baby 2000 years ago. If someone wants to believe it they can, the problem is they are not satisfied with believing it, they want you to believe it too
@Tsar_Martyr I agree, atheist waste time with the "burden of proof" debate. I don't see anyone asking Christians for burden of proof for dismissing all the gods they don't believe in
