@AhsokaLveIntrst Its quite remarkable how fragile they are. If you have principles, critiques are not scary and cause to run away but rather an opportunity to further explain your perspective. Its clear their unwillingness to divorce from the Dem party is a road to nowhere for a socialist society
@_ericblanc@briebriejoy@briebriejoy if you could confirm you and Fetterman don’t go to the same dark society meetings that are looking to bring an end to socialism we’d greatly appreciate it. Those of us who are dense are getting confused
@_ericblanc@briebriejoy Is this a new RussiaGate like conspiracy? Are we going with Brie is secretly an establishment opp for not wanting socialists to continue to capitulate to the Dem party and sell out the people?? Am I reading this right?
Fetterman is a Zionist and socialist want an end to US imperialism. Socialists dont want candidates representing socialism to sell out the people as the squad how done. Due to the failures of recent years a third party is a viable argument. The DSA project is led by fools
A question for @briebriejoy and co: if you're the most consistent fighters against the Democratic Party establishment, then why does your proposed strategy — socialists should form a new third party — now *dovetail* with so much of that same establishment?
How are we to build a more socialist society when we capitulate to capitalists w/out ever getting anything in return? Why would those who support socialism not welcome other approaches/ideas,especially, considering the shortcomings of those who claim 2 be socialists in office now
It’s hard to understand the DSA movement. Its almost like a mass of the following understands the Democratic (in DSA) as meaning Democratic Party. The mvmt exercises little solidarity to those to their left or who have different pol strategies but no issue collaborating with Dems
@tristanbard0516@LIYAHCONDA@cmkshama@hasanthehun Is the greater project to make a more socialist society or not? If that answer is yes, then put your feelings to the side. If you don’t like her critiques then dispute them and move on. The strength of any movement should not be on everyone having to agree on everything.

Listened to the whole podcast and this moment was just yikes - it was actually a good conversation up until here. While I don’t agree with Dan, he gave a good breakdown of his and DSA’s approach to elections - and Briahna responded really well. The Force the Vote convo - no matter how you feel about it - matters in any convo about strategy.
There was no reason for the hostility and frankly I just don’t imagine this happening to a white male podcaster who would similarly and respectfully pushback.
@tristanbard0516@LIYAHCONDA@cmkshama@hasanthehun I thought DSA was about organizing&mobilizing the people? Youre worried about endorsements? (Kshama has received numerous endorsement& has a strong ground game). If your project cant respond&handle criticism then it’s a weak project. Just say you cant go against a dem
@tristanbard0516@LIYAHCONDA@cmkshama@hasanthehun Is the point of DSA to create a more socialist society or just win elections? Kshama is going against one of the top recipients of AIPAC & arms funding & you’re retort is it’s a pointless race? The DSA education project has a lot of work to do if this is how their followers think
@KweenInYellow Another bad faith characterization of the exchange. No mention of how Dan couldn’t come up with better arguments than citing someone else’s work and didn’t have a viable answer for why DSA, for the greater good of the socialist project, can’t support Easton or Kshama Sawant
Isn’t it weird how the Zohran Mamdani left spends their time criticizing Cuba and Venezuela meanwhile they have zero criticism of NATO countries implementing mass austerity, cutting benefits in order to fund forever war with Russia!?
@LIYAHCONDA@cmkshama@hasanthehun It really makes Hasan and other DSA “leaders” look like controlled opposition. The argument she hurt the DSA’s feelings or the pretend arrogance of not knowing her is telling. The inability to go beyond the Democratic party despite the widely acknowledged evils of it is peculiar
@ryangrim@briebriejoy That was the point (2nd paragraph). That’s why she was using force the vote as context. Are you dense? Are you still sore because your political analysis in 2020 was a failure and carried weight for the establishment? Did you just not watch the whole video?
The genocide in Gaza started under Democratic President Biden. The vast majority of House Democrats, including my main opponent 29-year incumbent Adam Smith, have voted to send tens of billions of dollars for the genocide and they continue to fund it. Even virtually all of the so-called progressive Democrats have voted repeatedly for what they call “defensive” weapons, but as we know, there is absolutely no aspect of the genocidal Israeli state that is defensive.
After over two and a half years of Democratic-Party-supported genocide of the Palestinian people, the Washington state Democratic Party has now decided to pass a resolution condemning the genocide and urging Congressmembers to call for an arms embargo on Israel. This is obviously under the intense pressure of millions of working people across the nation, especially with powerful AIPAC-bankrolled incumbents being thrown out by antiwar candidates in New York City and Colorado primaries.
And yet, even now, the King County Democrats and five Democratic Party Legislative District groups in Washington have endorsed Democrat Adam Smith. Smith is a darling of AIPAC who has not only voted for tens of billions of dollars of weapons to Israel for the genocide, but has also voted repeatedly to block U.N. food aid to Gaza.
We should recognize this resolution for what it is: an attempt by the Democratic Party to launder their genocidal and warmongering record and save their rotten party from the massive working-class anger.
The genocide will NOT be ended by gatekeepers in a genocidal party giving cover to genocide-supporting politicians.
I encourage everyone who wants to end the genocide to donate and get involved in our campaign. https://t.co/sh3zyhgTI7
We are fighting to end all military aid to Israel, for an end to all weapons and tech for genocide or imperialist war, and for a permanent arms embargo against Israel. If we win this election, it will be the biggest blow yet to AIPAC and the billionaires.
@ARubakovic@briebriejoy@DanielDenvir I did. That’s why I asked for examples. I don’t think the level of questioning warranted his reaction and leaving of the interview unless he didn’t have the answers. I’m trying to understand the other perspective.
