The Sukhoi Su-15 "Flagon" was the mainstay of Soviet air defenses during the Cold War. Built to hunt high-altitude NATO bombers like the B-52, it was a pure twin-engine, delta-wing, Mach 2.2 thoroughbred interceptor, probably the best interceptor of its day.
