There’s three versions of nuclear in the US right now:
1) Gundo Grindset
Yes the regs are bad, but also nuclear needs real innovation to win. You gotta be a cracked engineer. Believes they can move fast. Half the team used to work at SpaceX. Tweets about reindustrialization in downtime.
2) Elder Millennial / GenX who does Ted Talks
Almost became a thorium true believer back in 2005 but graduated to something more serious. Thinks a nuclear company will take a long time. Has raised billions and has lots of non-binding agreements with customers. Nothing close to built. Loves Vaclav Smil. Secretly getting tired of the mission and wants to chill on a homestead.
3) Just Build Nuclear
There’s no real innovation needed here. Modularity is fucking dumb. The AP1000 is basically perfect. The world would be hyper-prosperous if the Malthusian ecoleft didn’t ratfuck god’s greatest gift. The government just needs to make sure they get built. Erect the nuclear cathedrals by edict and restore this culture to its former glory.
