Ridiculous uptick in federal immigration reports today — ~10 from rapid response groups between 6 and 10am. Most are presumed to be ICE, though HSI (and others) are possible.
ICE: Feds detained one nearby Golf Middle School in Morton Grove earlier this morning, per ICIRR.
Know about this? Shoot me a DM or a text on Signal at rottignon.01. @thedailynu
Federal agents were seen in Morton Grove at the intersection of Emerson Street and Sayre Avenue around 8:30 a.m., according to a 10:18 a.m. ICIRR alert.
One person was reported to have been pulled out of their car and taken by the agents, the alert read.

1/ This line is the border between Evanston and Rogers Park, Chicago’s northernmost neighborhood.
On Oct. 31, it became the site of what appears to be an attempt by Evanston police to dodge the city’s sanctuary city ordinance... 🧵
And a note: This article relies on documents and footage obtained largely via FOIA. In the public interest, we're releasing those records — they're linked throughout the article.
For the last 7 months, I've been digging into how Evanston police responded to federal immigration enforcement.
I found EPD's behavior — as one activist put it — to be "distressing."

A Daily investigation sheds light on Evanston police’s decisions to let federal immigration agents leave a crash scene and meet them outside city bounds on Oct. 31.

More from @MargoMilanowski for the Evanston RoundTable: family is looking for an immigration attorney and they're looking for at least $8,000. They also relied on Jesús for a large chunk of their survival income.
BREAKING in Evanston: Resident and community member Jesús Eugenio Castro was detained by ICE last week, my colleague Marisa reports.
Evanston Latinos and Sanctuary Evanston have a fundraiser for his family: https://t.co/jdwXpY88lN
Evanston resident Jesús Eugenio Castro was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Monday during an immigration check-in at the ICE Chicago Field Office, according to his family and community organizers.

In a new report, the name of a third Border Patrol agent who participated in the aggressive Halloween arrests in Evanston — Edward Maxa — has been released by the IL Accountability Comm.
Maxa, the report alleges, pepper-sprayed a resident "from close range, without warning."

Anyone know if there's CTA data available on what percentage of riders go each direction at each station, preferably at each time in the day? So, e.g., it'd say that 35% go northbound, 65% go southbound at 11am. Anything like that?

When we asked her about claims that she had pledged to drop out of the primary at an Election Night party, she denied ever doing so.
Shortly after, Elliott Parrish, her ops manager, told us that she had committed at least once, but it was "not formal."

On racenight, @MaxTuretzky and I learned of another time Amiwala committed to drop out.
Bushra told Max that she "never" made any commitments. But later, ops manager Elliott Parrish acknowledged she had made at least one, though it was "not formal."
More @thedailynu soonish.
Here's another voter perspective from Lincolnwood's Muqtadar Ahmed, who asked the question at the town hall that spurred Amiwala to repeat her commitment:
