If you want to get a piece of this, we just helped a roofing company get a $450k offer for their De-Identified Data.

These labs need your workflows to train their models and are paying high dollar right now ($100k-$1M)

Dm me if you want to get a quote on your data.

Wow, seems like Google is buying Spirit Airlines' enterprise data for $10m (outbidding Mercor at $7.5m).

Basically includes every internal document, email, workflow, and codebase for a once $6B company.

Honestly, $10m for 34 years of operational data really seems like a steal.

There may not be anything wrong with the data set. It’s a function of how the data set compares to its competitors and what current demands are from the Frontiers.

When any data lab is buying a data set there are costs for data, compute and researcher hours that have to be considered when making the investment decision so they are going to be selective.

Criteria data sets are evaluated against

Company Size
- We compare datasets against our other options. A 50 employee company is probably better than a 15 employee company so allocation will go to the 50 employee company.

Years of Full Context Coverage
- If the businesses recently made CRM/messaging software changes there are fewer years of full context data.
- Additionally younger companies would have fewer years of coverage

Quality of Systems available for Export
- Businesses that use their own custom CRMs or obscure softwares are less valuable because of the additional cost for a researcher to restructure the data sets and build environments as opposed to a more industry standard software.

Data Artifact Quality
- By far the hardest value to measure. How a business uses the software and the type of decision data that exists in the data requires deep due diligence.

Each department’s sops on where they record information and internal dialogue and swing the entire value equation and can make or break deals

@RyanLockAI When a seller's data set doesn't fit, what's usually wrong with it?

[Ryan Lock “RL” @RyanLockAI]

This is what the data marketplace makers aren’t prepared for.

Deals get emotional especially with these sums of money on the table.

We need an ecosystem of brokers to help both sides work out these deals at the final hour.

Working on a deal right now with motivated buyer and motivated but difficult seller.

Basic reps being withheld by seller for no apparent reason.

Seller burning good will unnecessarily and way over playing their hand.

The brokers are doing everything to keep the deal on track which is mostly just keeping heads cool and the focus on a wider perspective.

AI ain’t disrupting this any time soon.

The ability to say NO will help you as a Data Broker.

It feels great getting a new seller lead for someone motivated to work with you on monetizing their data set.

Then on your intro call, you discover this data set doesn't match what your buyers are currently structured to buy or have interest in.

It may feel valuable to bring as many opportunities to your partners as possible, but every slop intake form you make a buyer read through devalues you as someone they want to continue working with.

For Brokers, you can use the Polyshares platform to get feedback on these leads and help guide your conversations to sellers even if we aren't the buyer.

This feature is only available to 'Advanced Brokers' which you can enable in the settings of your account.

if you're reading this, I just released a NEW podcast episode with @RyanLockAI, who went from knocking doors selling solar to co-founding a company that hit $35M in its third year and exited.

Now he’s building PolyShares, licensing private company data (emails, Slack, CRMs) and getting it ready for AI labs to train on.

@RyanLockAI take: the last frontier of model capability is locked behind private company data

Those Spirit Airlines private slack chats had to have some gold in there.

[Ryan Lock “RL” @RyanLockAI]

Seeing a growing trend around a Rev Share model for sellers to participate in Envs/task revenue instead of a contracted payout.

As a Seller or Sell Side Broker, you must do your due diligence on the buyer’s ability to monetize before handing over your data on an exaggerated estimate.

The best RL Env companies have cash and can make a 7 figure offer on a data set no problem. These companies have funding and/or a track record of monetization that allows them to make that bet on themselves.

If someone is throwing out a “potential $ amount” significantly higher than market. Ask yourself why they don’t pay market and take the upside themselves.

[Ryan Lock “RL” @RyanLockAI]

If you're selling to Jay, I agree.

I'd caution the broad sentiment because that puts the onus on the vendor's ability to monetize.

For rev share offers, you're either talking to a vendor that is high information selling with tons of credible track record or you're talking to someone with less track record than they have dollars in the bank.

Jay is on the good side.
