Iranians who were seeking to free themselves of the authoritarian rule of the Shah learned a very harsh lesson in 1979 when they welcomed the Ayatollah Khomeini into power during the Islamic Revolution.

The man who promised to free Iranians only inflicted more pain, devastation, and bloodshed on them.
