In the second of our series of blogs reflecting on the recent 'Animals and the Holocaust' workshop I organised with @char_lotte_gbs at @magdalenoxford, @RyanSun12 shares his thoughts.
Thank you to @GermanHistSoc for their generous support of the event.

Fantastic two days at @magdalenoxford observing the ‘Animals and the Holocaust’ workshop - amazed at the depth and breadth of research in this emerging field.
Congrats to @BarnabasBalint@char_lotte_gbs for a fascinating event
"The body bags would have alluded to genocide. Audiences would not be able to reduce the narrative to a singular loss, to an isolated, ahistorical moment of Orientalised grieving."

The numbers written on the streets of Yuen Long show that no matter how the government tries to rewrite the narrative, people remember this day as a stain on the city's history.

As many people have noted, Cantonese is a thriving language, subway announcements are in English, Mandarin AND Cantonese in Hong Kong, and this is an extremely strange way to measure the significance of a language in any city. But let me make one more point... (1/1)
The book chapter written by me and @MarkHamptonHK is finally out! If you are interested in getting a copy, let me know. Alternatively, you can order the book, Memory and Modern British Politics: Commemoration, Tradition, Legacy, using the following link :

Call for papers - Mapping the Holocaust
We're excited to launch this new call for papers today, for a workshop at @ihr_history on mapping the Holocaust with @OCHJSnews@HCRInstitute @Davis_Cailee @Niamh_Hanrahan.
@TK_HelpDesk@TurkishAirlines I have had the most infuriating experience with Turkish Airlines. Got to the airport to find out that the flight I was supposed to be on doesn't have me registered even though I had the Turkish-issued ticket (it was operated by a different carrier),
Very rough translation of《我們的時代》"Our Time" (or "Our Era"), a short story with dystopian undertones that the Hong Kong national security police demanded be taken down from the @gongjyuhok site.
I definitely liked 'This War of Mine' and the narrative it constructed. Video games do have a role in public history. But this "refugee camp building and management game" reeeally doesn't seem like it would have the nuance and sensitivity that one would hope.
