Grassroots movement in Brisbane’s Ryan electorate. Encouraging community involvement in politics and seeking better policy outcomes from our political process.
@DrCRowanMP represents a large section of our electorate in state parliament. He voted against decriminalising abortion in Qld.
Would the people of Moggill prefer an independent representative? Interested to hear your thoughts
Electorate staff are there to serve the constituency not engage in legislative work.Need at least 2 staff to serve Independents in the Parliament on legislation, bills perusal, private members work, meetings and research etc.
Reduction to one staff will compromise their work.#auspol
As they discuss inflation, very much looking forward to #insiders covering, not just workers' wage rises, but also the $200bn in tax cuts for top income earners.
(With a disclaimer of course that the panel and host will reap a collective 30k+ tax break)
@DrCRowanMP Member for Moggill, voted against decriminalising abortion here in Qld, and a section of Ryan, in 2018.
Time for an independent member of state parliament?

@mattjcan much the same but tends to shout it from the rooftops.
Do we need an Independent Senator in Qld? (Feeling a bit jealous of the ACT for once)
Cutting Independents' staff is a tactical move to take away their power - because they, & the communities that elected them, are powerful.
Old major parties are beholden to their corporate donors & are afraid of the new wave of community based politics

I caught a bit of a radio show today. They were dead wrong about why electricity and energy prices are high and I feel a responsibility to set the record straight.
A very short and digestible thread.
Just uncanny the media is marvelling now at 30% power bill rises but they forgot to say Joshie and Angus knew it was happening but withheld the info and chose to campaign on lower electricity bills #uncanny
Just saw this... After moving from Treasury to lead Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s department, Phil Gaetjens salary rose from $879,978 to $914,460 a year
PM salary $550,000
🧵Some members of Voices of Ryan got together last night to watch the election coverage.
Over the past few months, we have done our best to solidify a place in the electorate for a politically conscious group, committed to holding our elected official accountable, (1)
There was obviously a sense of change in the air, and the people of Ryan have spoken.
You can bet Voices of Ryan will continue to ensure accountability, transparency, integrity, positivity, diversity, and respect in our electorate moving forward (as per our 6 values).
As we enter the last week of the election campaign, don’t get distracted by the noise. Remember politics must be about long term planning not short term point scoring. How do you want to be able to describe Australia in 2030? #auspol#independents
"This traditional blue ribbon seat" being Ryan.
The tides are changing in Ryan.
Climate action is by far the most important issue here, following closely by integrity (ICAC).
We haven't seen any/much action on these by our current member Julian Simmonds.
