April 28, 2025. West Bridgewater’s Nate Grueter remained hot at bat and had 3 hits in the game. Nick Navin had 3 runs batted in. Charlie Mallett had 2 hits and 2 runs batted in. Ryan Nunes also had two hits in the game. Alex Noonan got the win on the mound, his first of the season while striking out 4.
West Bridgewater got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning to go up 1-0 Charlie Mallett and Ryan Nunes Walked. Nick Navin hit a ground ball and reached on an error that scored the run.
In the top of the third inning Fairhaven tied the score 1-1 on a RBI single by Lucas DeCastro to center field.
West Bridgewater came back to regain the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning. Charlie Mallett singled and then Nick Navin singled to score Charlie Mallett.
In the bottom of the fourth West Bridgewater extended the lead with 4 runs scored. Aiden Mussari was hit by a pitch. Jag Garces singled. Charlie Mallett then hit a single to center field that scored 2 runs (Mussari and Garces) for a 4-1 lead. Ryan Nunes singled. Charlie Mallett scored on a wild pitch for a 5-1 score. Nick Navin then grounded out which scored Ryan Nunes for a 6-1 Wildcats lead.
West Bridgewater continued to have a big day in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jag Garces reached base on an error. Charlie Mallett walked. Ryan Nunes singled to left field to load the bases. Nick Navin grounded into a fielder’s choice to score a run. Ben Dowdall walked to score another run. Jacob Smith then hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Ryan Nunes to extend the Wildcats lead 9-1.
Fairhaven would score its final run of the game in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Luke Cathcart for a 9-2 in favor of West Bridgewater.

April 25, 2025. West Bridgewater’s Nate Grueter had a big game with 2 doubles and 5 runs batted in. Ryan Nunes had 3 hits. Jag Garces also had 2 hits in the win for the Wildcats. Sophomore Charlie Mallett pitched a strong game with 9 strikeouts and did not allow a walk.
West Bridgewater scored 3 runs in the top of the second inning when Ryan Nunes singled to center field. Nick Navin walked. Ben Dowdall sacrificed to advance both runners on base. Nate Grueter hit a double to center field that scored both Ryan Nunes and Nick Navin to put the Wildcats up 2-0. Later in the inning Thomas Polidori singled to center field which scored Nate Grueter for a 3-0 lead.
Cardinal Spellman would score 2 runs in the bottom of the third inning to close the gap to 3-2. Daniel Walkes reached base on an error. John Petruzzo singled to left field to drive in a run and later in the inning Jason Cunningham singled to right field to drive in a run.
West Bridgewater then had a big inning in the top of the sixth as they scored 3 runs to extend their lead to 6-2. Ryan Nunes reached base on a single. Nick Navin walked. Ben Dowdall reached on a single bunt to load the bases. Nate Grueter then smashed his second double of the game which drove in 3 runs.
Cardinal Spellman generated activity in the bottom of the sixth inning by scoring 2 runs to make it a 6-4 game. Tyler Alsen doubled to center field. Jeremy Schapansky doubled to right field which scored a run. West Bridgewater’s Charlie Mallet then got his 9th strikeout of the game for the first out. After Nick Iula reached base West Bridgewater changed pitchers and Nick Navin entered the game and struck out the first batter he faced. John Petruzzo then singled to left field, which scored a run to make it 6-4. Brady Flaherty walked to load the bases but, the Wildcats Nick Navin was able to get out of the inning on a ground ball out to second base to end the inning and more possible runs for Cardinal Spellman.
West Bridgewater continued to not let the score be a 2-run game and scored 3 more runs in the top of the seventh inning to extend their lead to 9-4. Charlie Mallett singled to right field. Jag Garces singled to center field. Ryan Nunes then had a bunt single to load the bases. Nick Navin then reached base on an error that scored a run. Jag Garces later scored on a passed ball. After Nate Grueter was hit by a pitch it loaded up the bases again. Thomas Polidori walked to score the ninth run of the game for the Wildcats.
West Bridgewater’s relief pitcher Nick Navin had a strong finish in the bottom of the seventh inning and did not allow a base runner to cap the win.
West Bridgewater, who lost earlier in the season to Cardinal Spellman 12-5 have become a much better team since then thanks to unity, confidence, determination, enhanced performances and great coaching from Zach Smith. The win evened the regular season series.
West Bridgewater’s Jag Garces continues to have a strong 2025 season for the Wildcats and upped his batting average to .455.
Cardinal Spellman was led by John Petruzzo who had 2 hits and 2 runs batted in. Jeremy Schapansky had 2 doubles and drove in a run.

Great outing today in an electric and gritty 2-1 team win Vs Joseph Case. Also added a single to bring me up to .400 thru 7 games. Excited to carry on the momentum to Friday!
