Given that the NCAA is requiring tournament games to be live-streamed only through ESPN+, maybe some of those subscription fees could help facilitate instant replay in D3 playoff football. The right call here meant a 4-point swing.
I agree that it is a bad call. In the super-slo-mo at the end, it looks like the play did not touch any part of their body on the ground out of bounds until the ball make contact with the pylon. By rule, an "inside out" hit of the pylon (which is the assumed manner in a play like this) proves that the tip of the ball crossed the goal line. As such, it should have been called a TD. That said, though, DePauw did kick a field goal. So it would've changed a lot of things in this game on both sides if the call had been a TD here. I wouldn't call this determinative of the game result, but I would call it a bad call.
