Dorothy Fletcher, a 67-year-old grandmother from Liverpool, was flying to Florida in November 2003 for her daughter’s wedding when she suddenly suffered a massive heart attack mid-flight.

She initially thought the chest pain and nausea were just indigestion. But once the plane was in the air, her condition became critical. The crew made an urgent announcement asking if there was a doctor onboard.

Then something almost unbelievable happened.

Fifteen passengers stood up to help and every single one of them was a cardiologist traveling to a heart conference in Orlando. Several doctors immediately surrounded Fletcher, using the aircraft’s medical equipment to start an IV and stabilize her.

At one frightening moment, doctors feared they were losing her, but they managed to find her pulse and keep her alive until the plane could land.

The flight was diverted to Charlotte, North Carolina, where Fletcher was rushed to the hospital. After spending two days in intensive care and several more days recovering, she still managed to attend her daughter’s wedding just one week later. ❤️

The doctors who saved her life were strangers she never even learned the names of. They had simply happened to be on the exact same flight at the exact moment she needed them.

More than two decades later, the extraordinary story resurfaced, with Snopes confirming that Fletcher was still alive and well.

Sometimes, the difference between life and death really can come down to being in the right place at exactly the right time. ❤️
