A couple of reasons come to mind from this South Carolinian who has always despised Miss Lindsey

He and his friends control the party apparatus on the county level. These are the only real supporters he has.

Most of us will not vote for a Democrat no matter the circumstances. Period

Open primaries, a ton of Democrats in this state vote for him.

He doesn’t get credible challengers because he’s part of the establishment in the SCGOP and they’re still very much George W Bush types even though the voters have moved on from that position.

The problem may seem to be the voters but the real problem is the SCGOP.

@BreannaMorello The republicans are in complete control of both chambers of congress and the presidency and refuse to pass the save act. I don’t believe South Carolina is the bulk of the problem.

Voting in South Carolina is interesting. It takes at least 45 minutes. Not the voting, that’s like 3-4 minutes. You vote then you meet all your neighbors. Folks bring coffee and just hang out. There’s nobody you don’t know. You talk about the family, your golf game, the weather, health issue etc. No political talk actually. Sure you could rush out but for some reason you don’t.
