Platner wants everyone to know that he has made mistakes in life, and this is clever because he’s aiming for your sympathy as part of an “underdog comeback” story. But it feels like we keep lowering the bar in our politics, with our norms constantly shifting. The oft-quoted “Overton Window” keeps moving. Don’t we all make mistakes? Isn’t it a basic part of being human that we don’t always get it right? So the issue isn’t that he made mistakes—that goes without saying—it’s about the nature and seriousness of those mistakes, and his ability to truly reform and change. In other words, he hasn’t told you anything you didn’t already know; he just wants you to give “the misunderstood underdog” a chance.
Caveat Emptor...
Let’s put this Platner business to rest. To me he seems like a wolf in sheep’s clothing just like Hasan. These are very angry and dangerous people and should not have power. As bad as Trump is these people are also bad but in a different way. But when you hear Platner speak you can just sense his anger.

Hollywood offers illusions. Especially the illusion of safety in that you are watching a show on the comfort of your recliner in your own home. It’s a totally safe environment so you can enjoy show and feel little emotional disturbance other than perhaps the occasional wince depending on your threshold for what’s being shown.
But it’s not going to traumatize you or give you brain damage watching TV. At least not like it would have you were actually taking drugs and hanging out with the people portrayed on TV. That would not be comfortable at all and your emotional state would do much more than wince. It could in fact alter the structure of your grey matter and more and more we are learning this is so. Exposure to such environs can likely leave permanent emotional scars and actual brain damage depending on your level of exposure.
I’m not a Mom but I hope Sharon Stone would reconsider her position.

It’s a lot different meeting someone who has been wrecked by drugs in real life and watching a fantasy TV show about it. Just like meeting the mafia is nothing like your binge watching of Tony Soprano.
Hollywood is so lost and confused.

When you go to rehab for drug addiction, they don’t show you Euphoria. It’s because trying to emulate your heroes from Euphoria is what landed you there in the first place. In rehab, they might have someone visit who’s on a permanent trip from acid, just to show you that if you keep going down that path, you’ll either die or lose your mind.

What an effin moron she is. Arguably no adult should see that show let alone kids. 😂 It won't help It will glamorize and stain their innocent brains with images they don't need to see and will likely stay with them for years. She's a tool. 😂

EXACTLY...I'm glad this sort of thing is happening....not everything is TDS or "envy of success". Respect is earned. People who are worthy of respect get respect. You see that with the Pope in Spain. Millions of people flocking to this man. The Ghandi comparison is legit. Ghandi was BELOVED. He didn't need to tell the crowd how to behave, they hung on his every word.

BREAKING: Ken Paxton’s own lawyer just endorsed James Talarico:
“I defended Ken Paxton for years in the impeachment trial and in state criminal cases. But in my view, I think Ken has lost sight of his core mission, which is to represent the people of Texas.
And unlike Ken, I believe that you, James, believe in unity over division and that you know how to assemble not only Democrats but Independents and Republicans and we need that right now.
We need unity, we don't need any more division and that's why I'm supporting you.”
Trump seems to want to be like Churchill, and if you follow right-wing narratives on world affairs, some might argue he fits that role. But behind Churchill lies a double-edged sword. He was no match for Gandhi, whose spiritual influence played a major role in bringing an end to colonialism as we know it.
Madrid kollabiert. 🇪🇺⛪️🇺🇦

HISTORIC: The Catholic Church has surpassed, for the first time in history, 1.422 BILLION faithful worldwide.
Let that sink in for a moment.
In a culture where many people claim religion is dying, the Catholic Church is larger today than at any point in history. According to the latest Vatican statistics, there are now more than 1.422 billion baptized Catholics around the world.
And the growth is not happening where many people would expect.
Some of the fastest growth is taking place in parts of Africa and Asia. In many of these places, the faith is not convenient. It often comes with sacrifice, hardship, or even persecution. Yet the Church continues to grow.
Why?
Because people are still searching for truth.
They are still searching for God.
They are still searching for something that lasts.
At the same time, many people in the West are beginning to take a second look at Christianity. Some are returning to the faith they left behind. Others are entering the Church for the first time after years of searching for meaning, purpose, and stability.
That should make all of us pause.
For more than 2,000 years, kingdoms have risen and fallen. Cultures have changed. Ideas have come and gone. Yet the Catholic Church remains, preaching the same Gospel, celebrating the same sacraments, and pointing people to the same Jesus Christ.
The Church is not growing because Catholics are perfect.
It is growing because people are still hungry for what the world cannot give.
And that raises an uncomfortable question.
If faith is supposed to be disappearing, why are so many people still becoming Catholic?
💬 What do you think is drawing people to the Catholic Church right now?
