Had some books falling over on top of one of my shelves, so I welded a pair of bookends out of 16 ga. sheet and some rebar, a little gloss-black spraypaint, and a couple of light catchers I'd picked up years ago.

I know it doesn't look like much, but I went & got a nice supply of 1/4" - 1/2" square & round bar for forging and welding!

My dad started teaching me how to weld when I was a kid. I loved it. He didn't.

Now I've got my own little welding corner in my garage and I'm teaching myself all over again.

It's awesome to be working with my hands as well as my brain.
