Let's go deeper...
Did you know Japan built an operating system in 1984 that was decades ahead of its time.
and the US government killed it.
it's called TRON. The Real-time Operating system Nucleus.
Ken Sakamura was an assistant professor at the University of Tokyo when he launched it. his vision: a single open architecture for everything. the microcontroller in your washing machine. the workstation on your desk. the telecom switch in a central office. all running the same OS. all connected, open and free.
In 1984 he was describing what we now call the Internet of Things.
1987: Panasonic built a prototype TRON personal computer. the Japanese government announced it would install TRON-powered computers in schools across the country. millions of units. a national rollout.
then the US government put TRON on its annual list of Japanese trade barriers.
partly at the request of Microsoft.
no sanctions were ever formally applied but the message was clear. Japan quietly dropped the school rollout the desktop version of TRON called BTRON never shipped at scale.
then it gets stranger.
Masayoshi Son founder of SoftBank, now one of Japan's most powerful tech investors was on the committee that recommended abandoning BTRON. Researchers who examined his role later said he may have helped sink it from the inside. Nobody has proven it, he has never explained it.
and there is a conspiracy theory entirely without evidence that Japan Airlines Flight 123, which crashed in 1985 killing 520 people, was deliberately targeted to kill TRON developers who were on board.
no TRON developers were confirmed to be on the flight.
but the theory exists. because the story is strange enough to make people believe stranger things.
One part that makes the whole story absurd:
TRON didn't die.
it runs on billions of devices today. your car's engine control unit. your camera. your game console. your microwave. TRON is the most widely deployed embedded OS on earth by unit count.
it just never got to be Windows.
Ken Sakamura was asked in an interview last month why TRON became a US trade target.
his answer: "TRON is open to the world, and American companies can use it freely. why would it become a target of trade friction? i had no idea what was happening."
he still doesn't know.
nobody ever told him.
⚠️ EXPLOIT HAPPENING RIGHT NOW ON THE LATEST @fomo iOS APP ⚠️
6 hours ago FOMO updated its iOS app for "Small bug fixes" and they must have accidentally added something malicious in its new code.
A friend of mine opened his phone around 15 mins ago to place a trade and his balance got drained instantly.
It was 662 SOL worth around $62k, might not be a lot of money to some of you guys but it was almost everything he had.
He could literally watch the funds moving on-chain, but on the FOMO app it still showed as if his balance was there.
He thought the app was non-custodial, idk what happened here.
So far reports have shown that the Android version of the app is unaffected and this is only targeting iOS users.
Please be careful everyone, the estimated damage is around $6m so far.
I'd suggest to delete the app for now until there's more clarity and whether the team will refund the lost money.
@doon_io@0xSero Revolut is irrelevant for crypto outside EU(is primary ramp in EU) and we all know how relevant EU is to crypto.
They had an audit yes and it's a great sign,op is just over exaggerating, usdt ain't going anywhere and it will be fine, although it's always a good idea to diversify
@IpxChindo@wyckoffweb How did you get drained? Which wallets? Any idea ? Your story might serve as a precaution to the community if you don't mind sharing

@sebviceversa@DrWgamba I mean if you dig around a bit deeper you can list find cold wallet/wallets of almost all top casinos and compile another list. Might also do a cool cold wallet/hot wallet funds ratio or something
FOMO signs EVERY trade you make with a co-signer key that sees your order before it goes through.
More than 50% of FOMO’s TXs are currently being arbitraged by someone who has access to the same co-signer.
There’s a dark reason behind why FOMO prevents setting custom slippage…
