@CNKellerbach @Komdehagens If i had to guess i think is a hommage to 70's Toei/Fukasaku Films. Especially Cops & Thugs with Bunta Sugawara, which Toei itself kinda remaked with the The Blood of Wolves 2018.

@GangsterCinema Thats a masterpiece and kinda unique. Is a Noir version of a Yakuza Ninkyo. Or like a Ninkyo/Pale Flower Mix. 😄

Tatsuo Umemiya in Flower Cards Chivalry 花札渡世 (Masashige Narusawa 1967)

Unknown Masterpiece. Noir arthouse Ninkyo Yakuza Film in absolutely stunning black & white optic, with typical Noir Voice over & mysterious Femme fatale. Even reminded me of Pale Flower.

@arnau_alegre I watched Millennium Actress yesterday and the references to 24 Eyes was one of the few to films from the Golden Age that I didn’t recognize in the movie because I hadn’t seen it yet and only came across it today in a list of references. Another reason to finally watch it.😁
