Our district is still recovering from Pedro Martinez's tenure as San Antonio ISD Superintendent. Chicago Public Schools students, school workers, and communities deserve better.
Tonight the SAISD board approved a 2% general pay increase for all school workers, with no increase to insurance premiums.
This is in addition to budget enhancements in areas that we have been advocating for including special education, bilingual, and instructional assistants.
While jeans passes, cookies, and messages of praise are nice, REAL teacher appreciation means manageable workloads, professional respect and support, and compensation that meets teachers' economic needs.
Only unions can win that.
The people who work in San Antonio should be able to afford to live on the Westside!
