It is with deep sadness that we state that we lost a dear friend last night. Pete Cava was a longtime sportswriter, SABR member, and baseball fan. Pete was a treasure to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Coordinated by Bob Davids, on this date in 1971,16 baseball researchers met in Cooperstown and formed the Society for American Baseball Research. Anyone excited by baseball history or statistics should look into joining--it's open to all. https://t.co/kG6ZiGUGO2 @MarkArmour04
Bart Starr was the most kind, thoughtful and classiest person you could ever know. I consider myself extremely lucky to have called him friend and to have been mentioned in the same breath. Deanna and I are praying for Cherry and the Starr family. #RIPBartStarr
One fact from Indianapolis #SABRday is that May 2020 will mark the 100th anniversary of the first pitch of the Negro National League, thrown right here in Indianapolis at Washington Street Park. Stay tuned for more!
Oscar Charleston Chapter remembers Dr. Peter Bjarkman, frequent contributor to Indianapolis SABR meetings, and foremost expert on Cuban baseball. We miss you Pete. Pete Cava with a wonderful retrospective.#SABRday
