SACU institutional meetings started today in Johannesburg, South Africa, with the 81st Meeting of the FRAC. Senior Finance Officials will meet this afternoon while a two-day SACU Commission Workshop on the review of the Strategic Plan will start tomorrow, 22 April 2026.

SACU Heads of Customs met in WHK for their 35th meeting on 14 -15 April 2026 to assess progress on the Customs Modernisation Program to drive more cohesive regional action. Delegates will conclude their meeting with a field visit to the Mamuno/Trans Kalahari Border Post tomorrow.

The Risk Management Workshop for Customs and Other Government Agencies from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa was held on 24–27 March 2026 in Walvis Bay, Namibia, to develop an integrated risk management strategy to help the Customs Union curb illicit trade.

The ES of the SACU, Mr. Dumisani Masilela, formally presented his credentials today to Hon. Amb. S. Ashipala-Musavyi, Minister of International Relations and Trade of Namibia, following his appointment as the fourth ES of SACU, effective 1 March 2026.

Today, the ES of SACU, Mr. Dumisani Masilela, received a courtesy visit by the Deputy Director-General of the Department of WTO Affairs, Ministry of Commerce of China, Mr. Han Changtian, who was accompanied by the Ambassador of China to Namibia, HE Z. Weiping.
