قصة حزينة..

طبيبة نفسية تبلغ ٤٥ عاماً، غير مدخنة، زوجة وأم لثلاثة أطفال، ومديرة برنامج زمالة، تُشخَّص فجأة بسرطان الرئة (غدي) رغم صحتها الجيدة.

خضعت لاستئصال فص من الرئة ثم العلاج الكيميائي، وواجهت ألماً جسدياً ونفسياً شديداً. أثناء تعافيها، استوعبت صدمة كبيرة: المستشفيات والبرامج التدريبية والعيادات تستمر تماماً بدونها، بينما عائلتها لا تستطيع الاستغناء عن حضورها.

زوجها تولى كل شيء، والأطفال ينتظرونها، والخوف من عدم رؤيتهم يكبرون أصبح واقعاً.

رغم حبها الشديد لعملها وتفانيها في تدريب المتدربين والمرضى، أصبحت تتساءل: لماذا نتحمل الإرهاق المزمن والساعات الطويلة منذ كلية الطب، ونؤجل الحياة الشخصية «هل الأمر سيستحق في النهاية»؟

الآن أدركت أن المؤسسات مصممة لتستمر بعد الأفراد، أما العائلات فلا. لا يمكن لأي لقب مهني أن يعوّض لحظات الحضور مع الأحبة.

اختصار القصة ..
الوقت محدود جداً. العمل والمستشفيات تستمر بدونك، لكن عائلتك لا.

➡️In this month’s @theAJNR, Yamin et al. scientifically showed what we’ve known all along:

🔸Trying to figure out if it’s tumor or treatment on conventional MR imaging can make attendings feel like first year residents!

🔸When reading tumor follow up on conventional MRI alone, even attending academic neuroradiologists had low confidence in their diagnosis in 1 out of 10 cases!

🔸Imagine if you weren't sure if there was hemorrhage in 1 out of 10 ER trauma CTs--that is a lot of uncertainty!

🔸But the addition of perfusion cut the number of cases they felt unsure about in half & increased the reproducibility!

🌟So the next time you are struggling with a brain tumor follow up study—remember, perfusion can help clear up the confusion!
