On 25 March, the Embassy in collaboration with Japan Rugby League One (JRLO) hosted an event with South African Rugby players based in Japan. Ms Schroeder, Charge d'Affaires expressed the importance of rugby in strengthening the bonds of friendship between South Africa and Japan.
In attendance were Ms. ERI Arfiya, Mr. ONISHI Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Mr NAKAMURA Hiroyuki, State Minister of MEXT; they expressed appreciation for the significant contribution of South African players and coaches to the Japanese rugby league.

On 2 February 2026, the Embassy co- hosted the rebranding of Wines of South Africa (WOSA) event. In her remarks, Ms Annelize Schroeder, Charge d’Affaires a.i remarked that WOSA has always been at the forefront of the promotion of South African wines abroad, since its inception.

Café Le Pommier will also elaborate to offer the original menu by using the South African excellent grapefruit on the event day.
The South African Embassy in Japan, in collaboration with the Café Restaurant called Café Le Pommier, will host the South African citrus promotional event, specifically highlighting a unique, competitive quality of South Africa Jackson-fruit.

Deputy Minister Holomisa also met with his counterpart, Mr Taro Honda, State Minister of Defence in Japan for bilateral discussions on establishing possible areas of cooperation between the two countries.
