I asked @dhurley15 this AM for a quote, re: CBB's in-season free agency trend. He sent back a voice memo tonight. I've transcribed it in full and am sharing b/c it needs to be read by every person who claims to care about college athletics.

Another great @HoophallClassic moment. The @SAHSFriarNation squad was so deep and so talented that they came up to Springfield, Mass. and dominated against another legendary squad in @DeMathaHoops, cruising to a 50-point win.

@milton_hoops, the public school powerhouse in Fulton County, Georgia, delivered a major upset to @oakhillhoops, who was the No. 1 team in the @usatodayhss national poll. Although he lost, Quinn Cook showed out with 16 points and eight assists. Shannon Scott, the son of Harlem native and @UNC_Basketball legend, Charlie Scott, had 22 points.

Mount Vernon, that year's @NYSFederation champion, also scored a major victory over Taft High School from Southern California. Jabarie Hinds, then a senior, also showed out with 18 points and six steals.

In its sixth year of existence, the @HoophallClassic had some of the best in high school basketball at the time.

The now-defunct @SAHSFriarNation, coached by @Hoophall member Bob Hurley, @oakhillhoops, who was then coached by @OHACoachSmith, @StBenedictsNJ, who was then coached by @dhurley15 and three of NYC's finest teams in @LHouseBBall, then coached by @booksb4ball, St. Ray's, then coached by Oliver Antigua and @HCKnightsNY, then coached by Paul Gilvary.

Plenty of big names played there that year, such as Brandon Jennings, Lance Stephenson, Mike Rosario, @isaiahthomas, @DevinEbanks3 and Ed Davis.

#Flashback July 1996.

During these times the @adidasHoops ABCD Camp was one of the major events of the time for more than 100 of the best high school players in the nation.

It was at that year’s camp that @Tmac_213 was discovered and went from unknown to leaving Hackensack, New Jersey as the No. 1 prospect in the nation.

Being on Route 4, which is right across the George Washington Bridge from the Washington Heights section of Manhattan in New York City, the camp was super-accessible for those from the city to head to the Rothman Center on the campus of @FDUWhatsNew.

Two of the players featured in these videos were none other than future @NBA player @LamarOdom, who hailed from South Ozone Park, Queens & Anthony Perry, a native of Jersey City who played for the legendary Bob Hurley, Sr. at the now-defunct @SAHSFriarNation before going on to play at @GeorgetownHoops.

Look out for the ABCD Camp, as it is being brought back in the summer of 2026 by @adidasHoops.
