In the early 2000s these recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) were installed for sturgeon and clownfish experiments. Today we utilize them to test the feasibility of producing oyster larvae on recirc in comparison to traditional static culture

Last year our algae demand significantly increased. @soggy_biologist ran out and picked up these water jugs from Walmart to continue scaling up in a pinch. It’s that time of year again! What’s more satisfying than a full algae room? 🧪

Equipment and COVID setbacks kept us from conditioning our broodstock the last 2 yrs. Although mother nature’s timeline aligns well with ours, we’re excited to finally be able to condition our #oysters in our newly refurbished RAS and start our season a few weeks early!
