@Proto_arts I also feel like people are exaggerating that getting lost critique, since I feel that you only truly get lost in more confined spaces which the game isn't in most of the time.
There are very real and glaring flaws with this game but people are so stubborn and disingenuous about it that they only spout the same buzzwords and surface level arguments. "People wouldn't know where to go" do they have the environmental awareness of a 2 year old?
@Xhaos_k Everyone else is either good or solid, but sonic is kinda ass. Tangle is a bit annoying in that but not to the degree sonic is. Knuckles has a funny bit in there when vector tries to bring up previous adventures
I feel like a lot of this comes from western writers feeling that in order to have a "funny" sonic they need him the be more childish and immature than they should be. This is a big part as to why sonic is the worst character in chaotix casefiles.
one thing i feel should be avoided tho is making him deliberately a jerk
tailstube & crosstalk do this & it ends up making sonic sound so insecure about himself or resort to petty comments that come off like he still holds grudges
@mrjinjin2612 I feel like this could be good in bringing more job security back in the industry, though I also get why some companies invest in propietary game engines. Square enix tried having an in house hd engine and fucked it up so bad.Capcom on the other hand hit the jackpot with re engine
The main reason why no one would know where to go is because sonic team has spent the past 27 years conditioning players to embrace automated and restrictive systems
@Bootyking0212@Eddy_overdrive_@SonicBlueRanger And by the time adventure comes knuckles still doesn't like sonic. Blaze I'll concede is the only character that sonic truly redeems in the sense that he helped her open up to others and ask for help after she tried to stop the eggmen herself
@Bootyking0212@Eddy_overdrive_@SonicBlueRanger Sonic didn't really change the Babylon rouges, they just don't like eggman, They're still thieves.Shadow sonic didn't redeem, amy did that and then he died and became a new person. Knuckles was dumped by eggman, he didn't really get much of a redemption, 3 end with things cleared
@Bootyking0212@Eddy_overdrive_@SonicBlueRanger And they also don't really want to change each other anyways. Again they like fighting each other. Sonic's primary motivation is always searching for adventure. He helps others because it's part of the adventure and he fights eggman because he incites new ones
@Bootyking0212@Eddy_overdrive_@SonicBlueRanger But it's moreso he doesn't mind if eggman turns good, not that it's something he REALLY wants. He recognizes that eggman and his tech can help make the world better but he also likes fighting the guy to really try, especially since both he and eggman knows neither will change
@Eddy_overdrive_@Bootyking0212@SonicBlueRanger It limits how his character can view people, especially eggman, someone he knows very well. It's fine for sonic to show this more redemptive attitude to characters like surge because what she wants is to be a hero but is misguided in how to be their best possible self
@Eddy_overdrive_@Bootyking0212@SonicBlueRanger While yes that is true, I feel like trying to force sonic as this hero that sees the good in everyone rather than helping others see the best in themselves really misses what the series is all about and simplifies the stories ina more superheroic way
@Bootyking0212@Eddy_overdrive_@SonicBlueRanger It doesn't really make sense for sonic to conclude that tinker is what eggman could be when they are ultimately different people. That whole dillema was dumb and ignores a crucial part of sonic and eggmans dynamic, and it's that they like fighting each other.
@Bootyking0212@Eddy_overdrive_@SonicBlueRanger Actually that's one of Amy's traits. Sonic wants people to be the best version of themselves. That definition means anything and for eggman the best version of himself is what he is currently doing. Tinker was a personality brought through amnesia like current shadow
