Frans de Kuiper Ambush Site.
On 12 July 1725, Frans de Kuiper and his 30 men were ambushed in this vicinity by Chief Dawano's warriors. The expedition was forced to retreat across the Lebombo Range to the Dutch East India Company's port at Delagoa Bay, the settlement that would later become Lourenço Marques and, in 1975, Maputo.
