Play Sufficiency is back on the parliamentary agenda - and this time it’s in the Lords.

Following sustained leadership from @PlayEngland, Baroness @NatalieBen has officially reintroduced the Play Sufficiency amendment to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill at Committee Stage in the House of Lords.

The amendment would:
✅ Require councils to assess, secure and protect sufficient play opportunities
✅ Embed play sufficiency in planning policy and decisions
✅ Mandate inclusive, accessible & high-quality provision in new developments
✅ Ensure communities, children and play professionals are meaningfully consulted

This is practical, no-cost and ready to implement - and it would bring England in line with Wales and Scotland.

We’re calling on peers from all parties to back the amendment and ensure children’s play is no longer an afterthought in planning for homes, infrastructure and public space.

Because children don't just need homes. They need a childhood. And it all starts with play!
