@lordlackland thats a good mindset! also huh that is weird, but ig in a bigger group (and when the group is all guys) maybe the need to try to one up the other guys also gets bigger. hearing ab dynamics among men is interesting, since it's smth i wouldnt have ever experienced living as a girl
@lordlackland omg yeah, not that girls can't also be weird but i think w guys it can be a little scarier by default. it's not uncommon for guys to get violent when getting rejected esp if it's like a romantic rejection. but i can see how in your case it probably felt a little more chill haha
@lordlackland like some straight people just kind of default to "oh so we gotta date now" if they're two pple of the opposite sex based off our experiences lol like what happened to friendship and platonic love !!
@lordlackland YEAH like i literally found out i was a lesbian like that, everytime i'd befriend a guy in hs they'd get a crush on me and i would just go along w it until i realized. i seriously just wanted to just be friends 😭 ofc its not a crime to catch feelings for a friend but it feels
@lordlackland omg ofc and thank You for this conversation too it was a really nice one! i'm glad we got to exchange our life experiences and thoughts w one another lol, thank you for sharing all this stuff w me!
@lordlackland i'm sorry to hear that :( but i'm glad you still got to make friends w kind people who treated you well too!! hearing this kinda makes the male loneliness stuff make more sense too. like damn these guys can't even be affectionate w their friends no wonder theyre all lonely...
@lordlackland get this vibe off some guys where it's like, even if he's being nice i'm hesitant to be affectionate w them the way i am with my other friends... or when a guys being overly nice to me it just makes my stomach crawl and like girls are just sm lovelier to have as friends #biased
@lordlackland no i totally get this!! i had a similar kinda experience, but instead of bullying (which i also experienced but probably less) its this vague sense that no matter what i say or do, this straight guy might end up either catching feelings for me or thinking i like him and i just
@lordlackland im sure both played a part! thats awesome that u studied literature too! reading + engaging with the stuff you read helps develop critical thinking skills and empathy. i'm not a big reader but so much good/influential art was made by bad people tbh 💔 theres still value in it tho
@lordlackland dude lowkey this is like the highest praise u can get from a lesbian LOL. and hey fwiw, u dont have to figure everything out ab your gender/sexuality rn! you can change labels whenever, or not use any at all if its overwhelming. u got ur whole life ahead of u to figure that out:)
@lordlackland no i get you. the patriarchy is insane bc it will literally have you wondering if YOU'RE the weird one for just ... seeing women as people + respecting them. also, it's possible to be ace+het! i'm an ace lesbian and it's bc sex isn't as important to me as it seems to be to others
@lordlackland and i also get where ur friend is coming from 😭 bc you seem so kind/normal but 99% of straight guys are just Not like that 💔 maybe you being a philosophy student helps too bc i feel like a lot of straight people just Never think about this kind of stuff with sexuality/gender
@lordlackland yes omg exactly that!! it feels like they only like the concept of women, and it's usually in a weird objectifying way. tbh i think the only reason i noticed it is bc i'm a lesbian and i noticed the way im attracted to women is so much different from most straight guys i've met
@WeWuzKangz187@bofianuts@syndoniic@bpdasa are you a child? 😭 bad things happen, and talking about bad things in a critical way is good. no one is saying that the bad thing is good, they're just explaining that it DOES happen. acknowledging that rape exists is not weird, that's just you getting uncomfortable ab the topic
@lordlackland "default" masculinity that straight men like to partake in tends to use their attraction to women as a way to perform/prove this masculinity to other men, rather than being attracted to women bc that's just who they're attracted to. idk if that makes sense !!
@lordlackland you can realize that and sort of see the difference between what you may consider masculine is different from how a lot of straight men approach the idea, and that's perfectly fine. and you being attracted to women doesn't make you any less masculine! it's just that the like
