A multi-agency operation conducted in Tzaneen, Phalaborwa and Mankweng, Limpopo between 7 and 9 July 2026 led to the seizure of illicit and counterfeit goods with an estimated value of R77.9 million.
The confiscated items included branded clothing and footwear, jewellery, cosmetics, fashion accessories, toys, consumable goods, illicit medicines, agricultural products such as pesticides and honey, alcohol, as well as electrical, automotive and mechanical products that failed to comply with compulsory specifications.

Limpopo club Magesi FC, who were relegated from the #BetwayPrem to the #MotsepeFoundationChampionship, have appointed well travelled football administrator Morgan Mammila as their new Director of Football.
Mammila says he joined Magesi to help the club and the province recover after what he described as "lightning striking" Limpopo following the relegation of three teams.
The club has also unveiled Kabelo Sibiya as the new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, popularly known as Shebeshxt, is expected to appear in the Polokwane Regional Court on Friday for a pre-trial hearing.
The matter was previously postponed to allow his legal representatives time to appoint an advocate to handle the trial.
Shebeshxt is facing 20 charges, including three counts of attempted murder, among others. His bail applications were denied twice by the Polokwane Magistrate's Court.

A vehicle belonging to a Zimbabwean national was impounded after he allegedly insulted and assaulted a Thulamela Municipal Traffic Officer who was on duty and in full uniform in Limpopo on Thursday.
The incident allegedly occurred after the officer informed the individual that he was prohibited from trading without the required documentation and permits.
The foreign national allegedly refused to cooperate with officers who were conducting a routine municipal compliance inspection.

Motorists travelling on the N1 at Kranskop are advised to expect traffic congestion and possible delays, according to the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety.
The department has urged road users to exercise caution, remain patient, and comply with all traffic regulations while travelling through the affected area.
Drivers are encouraged to maintain a safe following distance, avoid dangerous overtaking, and follow the instructions of traffic law enforcement officers who are on site managing traffic flow.
Motorists are reminded to drive safely and prioritise road safety at all times.

South African National Defence Force [SANDF] members from 4 Artillery Regiment recovered two stolen vehicles following a shoot-out during an operation along the Limpopo River.
While conducting waylay operations on the riverbed, soldiers spotted two vehicles moving towards the river. As they approached, suspects opened fire on the troops, prompting a response from the SANDF.
The suspects fled the scene, abandoning a Toyota Fortuner and a Nissan Navara. One of the vehicles was reportedly being pulled by donkeys that investigators believe had been positioned to assist the suspects.
The South African Police Service [SAPS] was called to the scene and took possession of the vehicles in accordance with protocol. Police confirmed that both vehicles had been reported stolen.
The recovered Toyota Fortuner is valued at approximately R800,000, while the Nissan Navara is estimated to be worth R900,000.
The operation forms part of ongoing security efforts under Operation Prosper along the South Africa-Zimbabwe border.

The Thulamela Local Municipality Compliance Team conducted an enforcement operation at a supermarket in Thohoyandou, Limpopo following reports of by-law violations.
Municipal officials found the business trading on a pavement, obstructing pedestrian movement and unlawfully occupying public space.
The operation forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to enforce by-laws, promote orderly trading, and ensure public walkways remain safe and accessible to residents.
The municipality has urged business owners to operate within designated trading areas and obtain the necessary authorisation before using public spaces for commercial activities.

The Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality in Sekhukhune, Limpopo, has installed surveillance cameras at selected stop streets signs to monitor motorists who fail to come to a complete stop.
The municipality says drivers who violate stop sign regulations may receive electronic notifications accompanied by photographic evidence of the alleged offence as part of efforts to improve road safety and encourage compliance with traffic laws.

A joint security operation along the Limpopo River led to the arrest of 87 undocumented foreign nationals following a violent shoot-out with authorities.
According to the Joint Tactical Headquarters in Limpopo, several vehicles, illicit cigarettes and medical equipment were seized during the operation.
Among the recovered vehicles were a BMW X3 xDrive 20d valued at approximately R1.15 million, a Toyota Hilux single cab worth R195 000, and a GWM double cab valued at R567 000. Authorities reported that one of the vehicles was driven into the river during the confrontation.
Security forces also confiscated illicit cigarettes worth R603 899 and orthopaedic surgical kits and implants valued at more than R735 400. One suspect was allegedly found wearing foreign military-style regalia.
The seized medical equipment was handed over to Port Health and Customs at the Beitbridge Port of Entry, while the vehicles were transferred to SAPS for further investigation.

Three more suspects have been arrested in connection with an alleged R38 million fraud and corruption case involving Molemole Local Municipality in Limpopo.
The suspects, aged between 39 and 47, appeared before the Senwabarwana Magistrate's Court on Monday, facing charges of fraud and corruption. Their identities have not been disclosed due to ongoing investigations.
The Hawks allege that procurement processes were flouted, a service provider was paid before a contract was signed, and fraudulent documents were used during the procurement process, resulting in losses exceeding R38 million.
The accused were granted bail of between R5,000 and R20,000 and are expected to join 10 co-accused when the matter resumes on 26 June.

An illegal foreign national was arrested after 13 young women and men were found at a three-bedroom residential property in Legae La Batho, outside Polokwane, on Monday.
According to Limpopo police, officers acted on information regarding alleged suspicious and illegal activities at the property and conducted an operation at the premises on 22 June 2026.
The group, aged between 19 and 23, reportedly came from various provinces, including Limpopo, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal. Preliminary investigations revealed that some of the occupants alleged they had been recruited to sell insurance policies and had been staying at the property for an extended period.
The foreigner believed to be renting the house was also found on the premises. Officials from the Department of Home Affairs Immigration Services were called to the scene and subsequently arrested the suspect after determining that he was allegedly in the country illegally.
Police have since opened an inquiry and are gathering evidence to establish the full circumstances surrounding the matter.
