Managed to dip in to a wee bit of the @SARG_Research conference but not as much as I would have liked. It’s great to pick up the buzz on here. Delighted @scottishautism could support. So much important and meaningful work going on. Well done Scotland based researchers
@cameronmacal @SARG_Research I really enjoyed your presentation. Such an important topic. The whole @Sarg_Research conference was incredibly encouraging. This feels like a sea-change moment in terms of autistic inclusion and participation. As Eilidh said, we may be a bubble, but the bubble is getting bigger!
My first conference ever :) Thank you @SARG_Research for giving me a chance to present my little "happiness" study and thank you, Dr Anna Robinson, for being such a supportive supervisor. 2nd photo: my inspiration, and myself :) #autism#autismhappiness
We are so happy you enjoyed your first ‘proper’ conference @SARG_Research 2021 & such a great place to start your #Autism research journey … the power of connection
I am excited to keep tabs on the projects discussed, inspired by my group's decision and thoroughly hope to be involved in future @SARG_Research events/research. Very positive experience as an autistic researcher, and encouraging to see how autistic-led/focused every speaker was!
Thank you to all of the @SARG_Research organisers and presenters for such an interesting and insightful couple of days. It's great to see the range of research going on within the field in our wee country alone! 🏴
Talk recordings will be shared as soon as we have uploaded & checked subtitles. If you want to stay in touch with SARG, sign up to our mailing list use our online form https://t.co/Y4IkreZluY

Autism research does not exist in a vacuum:
- influenced by cultural values and assumptions
- influences cultural values and assumptions
@Noahsasson highlighting implications for the direction of interventions and potential stigma at the @SARG_Research conference
If social impairment was intrinsic to autism, interaction would be worse between two autistic partners, but this is not what we find! 🙌
LOVE this point by @Noahsasson at the @SARG_Research keynote today!
“Social interaction is not a one person skill”- a key thing to think about clinically, particularly in diagnosis. @Noahsasson talk brilliant-lots to think about in how we move away from a medical model in healthcare @SARG_Research
Loved our workshops, it was so good to connect with other people across Scotland and beyond. Now we're delighted to welcome @Noahsasson who is talking about barriers to inclusion
So where do we go from here? @Noahsasson suggests 1) autism researchers should step back and consider what we are actually trying to achieve; 2) more social, strengths-based, intersectional & lifespan research
