Yesterday, over 150 people were in distress in Malta’s SAR zone for many hours. Despite numerous calls about the case, Malta did nothing.
Three people died because Malta and Italy ignored their calls for help.

🆘~120 lives at risk in the central #Med!

More important questions from @seawatch_intl about the deaths of five people in Malta's territorial waters in February.
We continue to demand a full public inquiry!
On the 23rd of February, Malta's "rescue operation" appears to have led to a shipwreck in which 5 people died. Could they've been alive if Malta had followed basic rescue protocols? The boat with 34 ppl. capsized on Malta's south coast during the "rescue" after 3 days at sea. Why were they not rescued earlier? [1/5]
Five young people’s lives cut short, dead in Maltese waters. Five families and countless friends grieving. Five more people to add to Malta and Europe’s grisly border death toll.
We demand a public inquiry.

Imagine losing your loved ones in a devastating shipwreck. And instead of receiving any psychosocial support, you are locked into a detention centre in #Malta.
One year ago today, the #Cutro shipwreck occurred. #Frontex and the Italian authorities had known of the boat in distress many hours before it broke apart. They decided not to intervene. 94 people died. Afterwards, Frontex and Italy tried to cover up their non-assistance.
Stability Not Uncertainty!

Last Friday, 5 people died in Malta's territorial waters during a rescue operation by the AFM. We condemn this loss of life & demand a public inquiry into the circumstances of these deaths, as well as the immediate release of all surivors.
