@Dean_of_math Yes. They would focus on learning not getting an A! They would fail forward in the mastery of skills. Conversations would center on process, not product. I have experienced this first hand.

I meant that FACTUAL knowledge is binary: you know it or you don't... and objective tests can determine what you can recall or recognize. Conceptual understanding is more a matter of degree, assessed along a continuum–from misconception.... to deep understanding.
@ValeriaBrownEdu My grandmother did this. It was a set expectation. She cooked. We drove an hour to see her on weekends. If you were not going to visit it had to be for a good reason. We loved seeing all our aunts-4/uncles-3/cousins. Glad I had that experience.
