Excited to see this paper out into the 🌎!
“This 📝 calls for ⬆️citizen science participation in collecting #plasticpollution data both during & post pandemic… citizen science data can be used to develop 🌎 informed 🗑 pollution mitigation strategies.”

PhD opportunity at Univ of Toronto to work in an exciting, multi-investigator study of microplastic sources and fate in an urban watershed, including questions of social equity. Please contact [email protected] for more info & with questions! Please RT & share 🔬🌎 🥼
In this new #preprint we look at whether everyday plastic products contain chemicals involved in #obesity. We show that extractable chemicals trigger fat cell differentiation, growth, fat accumulation. PVC, PU, PP most active. 100-3600 chemicals/product.

We've been studying the impacts of #microplastics since 1961. Despite 100's of tox studies, there are still no health-based regulations.
I'll explain how to overcome challenges to assessing risks on June 23rd at the Renewable Natural Resources Foundation.

Interesting new study using an oil separation method for extracting microplastics but using a "syringe cascade" where the syringe walls are coated with different oils. Something I've never heard of! https://t.co/GxeW3XrXWL
Congratulations to the @OpenSpecy team for creating this valuable resource for microplastics researchers! Open data not only leads to better science, but also builds credibility among decision makers!

Our perspective in Nature Nanotechnology, Placing nanoplastics in the context of global plastic pollution, is now online! I had some great and long discussions with my co-authors, so hope you can also enjoy the result as much as we enjoyed writing it!🙂https://t.co/egb3wD68ys
Searching for a post-doc at the University of Toronto to study microplastics in the atmosphere in urban and Arctic environments. Please retweet. @sustainablesam_ and @lisaerdle
Our team is assessing the evidence for human health impacts from #microplastics.
“We’ll actually be able to say with some level of certainty whether or not this is an immediate issue for people’s health, or if it’s an issue that will arise down the road.”
