I gotta get out of Crim law. Looking at the dockets closely lately and approx. 80% of the accused are Indigenous. We are not bad people, I wasn’t born, looked around & plotted what kind of crime to commit. 1/2
As an Indigenous female lawyer, the ignorance and racism that I am subjected to, within the Justice system is astounding. Even other lawyers have noticed it and have commented as well “sigh””
Crown/Police use “Victim” for complainants. Victim definition: a person harmed, injured, or killed as a result of a crime, accident. We can debate this.
So, if I go to the US, can I get picked up by Ice and “deported” to Mexico?!?I am Indigenous. Is this a possibility. I somehow feel this would be a real possibility. What say you, 50/50 chance? 60/40!? It may not go well. I’m lippy, sassy & a lawyer.
Why do I have to be careful with my words and actions in the Justice system, so that I don’t”make settlers uncomfortable. They make me uncomfortable with their uncomfortableness. If you know, you know.
Soooo, if I go to the states and forget my ID or lose it, is their a chance that I will get deported? And where will I be deported too?!Where is the US deporting Native Americans too?!asking for a friend!
@kwetoday Yah, I dunno much yet, but I’ve never even heard of such a thing happening to anyone I know. Apparently they”ve been doing a good job though. Not sullying my reputation yet, lol. I’m super curious to find out who it is though!
Someone is impersonating me and our law firm and doing civil law (I only do Criminal). I don’t know if I should be mad or honoured that I was chosen, lmao.
There is usually this dynamic in a relationship: one who watches the finances, and is frugal and the other one, who is just having a great time. That’s me, I’m having a great time!that’s why I sometimes wonder when I get hit on…you don’t even know….its not even worth it 🤓
Can someone throw me a bone here….how many hours can you bill, for youth, matter proceeding summarily. And how many hours can you bill indictable. I do know that whatever it is, it’s the same for youth and adults, when billing hourly.
