Addis Ababa Bole to welcome a new airline to its growing network!

We are delighted to announce that China Southern Airlines will begin flying to Addis Ababa from 12 October 2026.
The new twice-weekly service will operate on the route
Guangzhou – Changsha – Addis Ababa, using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

This addition is another clear signal of growing international confidence in Ethiopia as a key aviation gateway. As we continue to expand at Bole, the ongoing development of Bishoftu International Airport is set to unlock even greater capacity.

By the completion of its first phase, we expect more airlines to join the network, further strengthening Addis Ababa’s position as Africa’s premier hub connecting the continent with Asia, Europe, and beyond.

We look forward to welcoming China Southern’s passengers and crew, and to the many new connections still to come.

At this critical moment in history, as Ethiopia prepares for its historic and momentous National Dialogue, I have an important and solemn appeal to all my fellow Ethiopians.

The beginning of tomorrow’s dialogue process is not merely an ordinary political forum. It is also the beginning of a new chapter in our history and one that will determine the destiny of both our generation and those to come, as well as our shared hopes for the future.

To all of you who are committed to securing lasting peace, stability, and comprehensive prosperity for our country, and who care deeply about Ethiopia’s greatness: the opportunity is here, and the time is now.

Just as our forefathers and foremothers fought at the Battle of Adwa with their blood and their lives for the freedom, sovereignty, and honor of our nation, today Ethiopia once again calls upon her sons and daughters who are ready to shoulder the responsibility entrusted to them by history. Yet in this moment, our country does not seek those who bear rifles. Rather, it seeks champions of peace and people equipped with maturity of thought, truth, knowledge, and steadfast determination.

Today, as in the past, we stand on the eve of the beginning of a great victory, because the triumph of Ethiopia and her peoples is inevitable. Through civilized discourse, peaceful dialogue, and national consensus, we will overcome all the challenges before us and, together, advance toward prosperity.

Today, on the eve of our historic National Dialogue, I received Ethiopia's dear friend H.E. Oluṣẹgun Ọbasanjọ in my office to discuss the upcoming National Dialogue and to draw on his wisdom from such journeys, where he shared with us his experience leading the Biafra Peace process. This experience offers a great lesson for Ethiopia’s journey toward ensuring unity and lasting peace through dialogue.

Today, we officially inaugurated the King Tekle Haymanot Airport, which the people of Debre Markos and the surrounding communities had eagerly awaited for many years. The airport, which had been out of service for nearly 30 years, has now been modernized, upgraded to a higher standard, and rebuilt.

Constructed with a 2,400-meter-long and 30-meter-wide runway, the airport now has the capacity to accommodate large passenger and cargo aircraft such as the Q400 and B737. The commencement of operations at this airport will significantly stimulate trade, investment, and tourism in the area, opening a new chapter for the economic growth of the area and our country as a whole.

By turning challenges into opportunities, we will continue to demonstrate our commitment through action—responding step by step to our people’s development needs and completing the mega projects we have launched with both quality and speed so they can be delivered for public use.

Today, we inaugurated the Arba Minch Conference Resort, another magnificent outcome of our 'Dine for Generation' initiative. This modern resort features state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a conference hall capable of hosting over 1,300 people and a unique floating restaurant on the lake. It will strengthen our vision of making Ethiopia a hub for international forums by expanding conference tourism beyond our capital city, while creating vast employment opportunities for local residents.

I call upon all our citizens, the diaspora, and the international community to visit and experience this new jewel of our nation, and to take part in this new chapter of Ethiopia's tourism and conference sector!

የመሪነታቸው፣ የመታሠራቸውና በመጨረሻም የሞታቸው ነገር ደብዝዞ እንዲያልፍ ተደርጓል፡፡ ልጅ ኢያሱ የሕዝቦችን እና የሃይማኖቶችን ትሥሥር ለመፍጠር በራሳቸው መንገድ ጥረት አድርገዋል፡፡ አዳዲስ አሠራሮችንና ሕጎችን አስተዋውቀዋል፡፡ ወደ ሕዝብ ቀረብ ያለ ሥርዓት ለመገንባት ሞክረዋል፡፡
