Catch is a drill, not a "warm up." The teams that play better catch are often the teams that play cleaner baseball. Stop rushing through it. Have a purpose. Those that get "bored" during catch are those that don't understand the importance of it and aren't mentally engaged during it.

Simple way to force catching it out front is to place a constraint like a fungo, pvc pipe, or even the infield cut in front of your player 

It provides immediate feedback on where you’re catching it
