Illustration for A Tapestry of Fate by SA Chakraborty. Wanted to capture like the feeling of the exact moment fight music turns on in a video game.
Working up the nerve to email a local stable or equestrian centre to find out if I can go and draw horses. I don't know if thats odd or not but ya girl doesn't have the capital for a sketching holiday on a Wyoming ranch u feel me
Never let anyone convince you not to buy that art material, because 16 years later you might find it again the very day you think "damn i could really do with a middle pthalo blue pencil".
@_camberry So right, making our living off what is essentially an optional luxury makes it feel sensible and kind of prudent to keep it accessible and/or save-up-able.
I consider these thoughts every 4-6 months and in the end I haven't raised my prices for maybe 2 years? 3? More??? I think I've hit a sweet spot of fair wage vs affordability options. It took a good while to get here and cheaper sketches still play a huge part in my income stream
big tip for anyone starting out: don't do full illusts yet.
start with lower priced icons or sketches. you can be accessible AND not starve to death. most people just want to use their beloved ocs (from ff, dnd, etc.) as a pfp actually!
the market for full illusts is smaller
Dir. Of photography, production designer and costume designer: who are you
me, through tears of joy: i'm your worst nightmare (writer who is also a visual artist)
If I ever create a famous IP that gets adapted for the screen, every clause in every contract will stipulate that the lead actor MUST commit to the truly awful but textually accurate haircut. If not the whole thing's off in perpetuity.
