𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭 just forced a memo out of the National Archives that Biden’s own team spent a year trying to bury. Written in the administration’s final days, it laid out a plan to expand Temporary Protected Status to more than 𝟑.𝟏 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞��𝐬 before Trump could even take the oath (Fox News). The memo’s own language gives away the motive. Biden’s senior advisers wrote that “𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘗𝘚 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘷𝘶𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘱��𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵-𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘮𝘱’𝘴 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.” This wasn’t a policy rollout. It was a booby trap. The plan called for creating 𝟐.𝟏 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐓𝐏𝐒 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐬 in the final weeks alone, even though the memo admits applications take six months to process. They weren’t racing a deadline. They were racing to plant landmines for the next president to dig out.
