Tigger is a nearly 5-year-old Pitbull Terrier cross with a stunning tiger-striped coat and an affectionate, loving personality. He’s working on a few manners like jumping, mouthiness, and recall, and continues to make great progress with consistent training and routine.

Tigger thrives with structure, enjoys being close to his people, and was a perfect gentleman in his cabin foster home. He’s looking for a pet-free home, as cats are not an option and he does best as the only pet. Due to his size and enthusiasm, an adult-only home or one with older teens (16+) would be ideal.

🐾 Meet Tom 🐾

This handsome, sweet guy was picked up from a rural pound showing symptoms that had us worried we might be facing distemper. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case — but Tom’s journey was far from over.

What happened?
Tom struggled with ongoing nasal discharge, nosebleeds, and just seemed generally unwell. We tried antibiotics and completed X-rays, hoping for answers, but nothing improved. We knew he needed specialist care to figure out what was really going on.

The diagnosis
After extensive testing with a veterinary specialist, Tom was diagnosed with Aspergillosis — a serious fungal infection caused by Aspergillus fungus.

Treatment for this condition is complex and invasive. In Tom’s case, surgeons needed to create surgical openings into his sinus cavities so they could directly access, clean out, and treat the fungal infection. It’s a delicate procedure followed by ongoing medical treatment and monitoring.

Tom has been through so much already, but he’s proving every day just how resilient and lovable he is. ❤️

Kuna is a 3-year-old mixed breed beauty with a heart full of love to give. This girl has the looks and the personality — she just needs the right person to help her thrive.

Originally returned to SCARS due to her sheer strength and pulling on walks, Kuna has been making great progress with the right tools and guidance. With a properly loaded leash or a Halti, she’s learning to walk much more calmly and responds well to leash corrections when handled confidently. She’s a smart, eager-to-learn pup who just needs someone experienced and willing to put in the time.

Kuna would do best as the only pet in the home. She does not get along with female dogs or cats. With proper, slow introductions, she has successfully made male dog friends, but she’s still selective — so no dog parks or busy social dog settings for this girl.

Due to her strength and occasional lack of spatial awareness, a home with children over 10 (if any) is best, so everyone can respect her space and energy. She’s also an energetic runner, so an active household with a large, fully fenced yard would be the ideal environment for her to safely zoom and play.

Kuna is looking for a committed, dog-savvy adopter who will continue to support her journey. She’s not the kind of dog you can just "wing it" with — but for the right person, she’s a loyal, loving, and rewarding companion who will give you her whole heart.

We’re facing a wave of urgent cases, and we’re doing everything we can to prioritize each one. Right now, it’s a mom and her five eight-month-old puppies, all suffering from porcupine quills. Quills are among the most common and life threatening injuries a dog can endure; they can migrate, cause severe infections, and prevent eating or drinking. If not treated promptly, dehydration and starvation become real risks. It has taken two long trips (about two hours each way) to safely trap five of them, with a third capture needed for the last. The first two dogs have already been treated and are resting, three more are en route for care, and the sixth is being planned.

Lady is house trained, walks beautifully on leash, and has great overall manners. When she gets extra excited, she can be a little jumpy—but it just comes from pure joy and eagerness to be part of the moment.

She’s currently on a sensitive skin and stomach diet as we navigate some likely food allergies. She’s more of a grazer than a foodie, but what she really responds to is praise—tell her she’s a good girl, and you’ll see her light up.

Meet Pudge a goofy, lovable young pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This handsome boy came to us from a rural pound, so not much is known about his past, but one thing is certain: Pudge is ready to find a family of his very own.

Pudge is an excitable young dog who approaches life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He’s still learning that the world doesn’t have to be such a scary place, and he will need a patient, committed family willing to help build his confidence outside the home. New sights, sounds, and experiences can be overwhelming for him at times, but with consistency, encouragement, and lots of positive reinforcement, this sweet boy is sure to blossom.

Like many young dogs, Pudge is also working on his manners — especially remembering to keep all four paws on the floor when he gets excited! He’s eager to learn and would thrive with an active family who can continue his training and provide him with structure, guidance, and plenty of outlets for his energy.

Hi, My name is Pancake and I am a very special kitty in so many ways. I came into SCARS as a 4 week old kitten with a deformed chest. It was called flat chested syndrome. My foster dad made me a corset to fix my rib cage and I am good as new. I need to go to a quiet home as I cannot be picked up and squeezed. I love to sit on your lap and rub my face against yours and will surprise you all the time. I play like a normal kitten although I get tired a lot faster but after a brief time out I am ready to go. Being deaf, she relies on her humans for guidance and will stick close until she feels comfortable in her environment. She’s great with kids and would do best as the only dog in the home. She’ll need a patient family willing to build trust and help her continue growing in confidence.

True to her bully breed personality, Blizzard does everything fully—she loves walks, rope tug, kick balls, and a good antler chew, and is just as committed to snuggles and naps.
