SCFS, Saluda Fire Department, Old Town Fire Department, Hollywood Fire Department, and Midlands Fire Department responded to a structure fire this evening. Crews had a fast knock down on the fire and conducted overhaul operations.
Fire units have been busy today. Earlier today, FC1, Saluda, and Johnston FD ran an MVC with minor injuries. Also, earlier today, FC1, Hollywood, Midlands, and Circle ran a reported brush fire that was out upon arrival. #SCFS#voulnteerfireservice#SaludaCountySC
This afternoon FC1 and Ridge Spring FD responded and assisted Monetta Fire Department with a structure fire. In all firefighters assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. #SCFS#SaludaCountySC
A dry cold front will cross the region Tuesday morning with winds shifting to the northwest and becoming gusty through Tuesday afternoon. Winds around 10 to 15 mph with gusts around 20 mph combining with critical minimum RH values. Will lead to increased fire danger.

Our June Firefighter of the Month is Sammy Connelly he is one of the founding members of Midland Fire Dept in 1981 serves as President/Safety Officer. He also works with the SC Forestry Commission for almost 33 years.
Over the weekend SCFS was presented with the Fire Safe Community Award along with several other departments throughout the state. This is the first year Saluda County Fire Service has received this award, and we are currently working on receiving the award next year.
